I have imported a number of .obj files from Maya to Poser and after tweaking on some of the materials attributes have rendered some nice images (rooms, cars, V3/M3 accessories...). My problem is that all of the objects are Props (not figures) so I cannot save them to a new specified Figure folder or Pose folder. How do I change a Prop to a Figure - I would like to offer a few of the models on the Renderosity marketplace? Any help would be greatly appreciated, -Dan and Kallynneilp posted Mon, 18 October 2004 at 1:41 PM
You haven't stated so I will assume you have poser 5. If the props are accessories then it would be better to save them as a smart prop and leave the file as a prop. If the objects are required to move or conform to a certain figure then the way to do it is : Select the prop (object) and click "Setup" room. You will be warned that the file wioll be turned into a figure. Click on OK. From the Library doubleclick on the figure you want your object to conform to. This will introduce a skeletal figure onto the screen. Any of the bones that don't touch your object can be deleted. Click on the group tool and select "Autogroup". Click on the "Pose" room. You should now have a conformable figure you can save to the Figure Library. Hope this helps NeilP

Most things with moving parts should be figures, so if you want the car`s wheels to turn you make it a figure with a bone for each of the four wheels (same with the doors, etc). There is a good tutorial at the link for making figures with propack and poser 5.
