october, The problem is that Toon! doesn't understand transparency. The extra information that Toon! uses to create the Toon!ed image only has one layer of of information. So when the it goes to figure out where the edges are, it finds the edge of the partially transparent plane at the edge of the plane, not at the edge of your opacity mask and it doesn't know about anything obscured by the plane. I would have imagined that turning off the line effect on the plane would have made it blend with the wall. I did a little sample scene and came across the same effect.
