I saw an image in one of the galleries this morning and wanted to try it. I've put on the standard chessboard texture to a terrain, but you'll notice how the texture seems to reverse in the centre? There's a very definite line where the pattern switches around. Any ideas why?

i'd say that's bad mapping actually... unless you did that with a terrain in which case i'm clueless.

you could try parametric texture projecting of the chessboard texture?

hmmnnn....just tried the same thing, and didn't have a problem. What mapping mode did you use? You didn't boolean it or anything, did you?

drawbridgep posted Fri, 22 October 2004 at 10:34 AM

It's a terrain, no boolean & set to world space. I've shifted to parametric and it looks like it's working. So Rayraz wins cookies (Drac, give him some cookies).

Noticed, when I tried to replicate drawbridgep's problem, that Bryce doesn't have a checkerboard texture (well, I couldn't find one, anyway). It's kind of an essential item when UVMapping, so here's one for anyone who wants it. Only 1.7kb, so not too difficult to download and store ;^)

bryce has a procedural checkerboard texture :)

I couldn't find it when I searched first, but now I see the CheckBlue under Basic. Is that the one you mean, or am I missing something obvious?

Here's an embarrassed smile :/

Rayraz posted Sat, 23 October 2004 at 8:26 AM

yea, the checkblue one is the checker procedural I think :) And there's a preset black and white checkerboard texture in the simple&fast texturelibrary too I believe, two of them even, if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks karineq, that's very useful in situations like this :/

There are at least 2 checkerboards .mats in Bryce. There#'s also some reading in the Bryce manual about how to apply them......
