Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 29 7:57 am)
Poser hair is either a prop consisting of multiple hairs (hence transparencies) or can be created in the hair room of Poser 5. Both types can look real or fake depending upon the level of detail placed in them. Could you show us a screen shot of what character you are working with and what results you are wanting. In my opinion, some of the dynamic hair looks fake because the hairline is too high. If this is the case, you can make adjustments. PS - tell us when the assignment is due so we can expedite our assistance...
I may be completely wrong, but, hair props are always going to use transparency, whether they're dynamic or not. that's part of what goes into giving hair the realistic effects. if no transparency is used in its creation, then the hair is going to look "plastic", like those people from those old energizer commercials. keep in mind, a green screen background is going to eventually have some form of scenery added to it, which would remove the green bleed-through from any transparent material and replace it with parts of that scenery. You can have this hair if you want it. It's transmapped, but it's only really transparent in the front and the back.I agree with BastBlack, make use of the alpha channels in Poser. It works in After Effects (i've tried it). There is also an option when rendering the movie (in After Effects) that you must check...I think that it's "+Million Colors" anyway, just look for the plus sign. Then make sure it's an animation file. I did that, and I could then overlay the movie onto another movie/layer.
Image on the left just plain white BG... On the right just dropped in a BG... No other work done at all. There is a slight halo on the hair a little bit, but not bad.

For a class, I have to use a character in a movie. But I can't find ANY good male hair that isn't Dynamic or use some form of transparency map. I need to use green-screening on it, and dynamic and trasnparencyies where is blends into the background make really undersierable effects. All the skull cap/wig types look very fake and underdeveloped. Any help I could really use. If you have any you could send me, please PM me.
