I know DAZ has an official "BUG List " where you report problems but I just thought id ask if anyone is using DAZ studio on mac OSX ?? The latest build I have works fine for basic poser still renders etc. But the app Quits and dissapears after every render with no OSX system warning about the app has "unexpectedly quit no other sytem processes affected"

I am not using it for that very reason. The build before last worked okay but not this one. I know there is a problem witht he Delight thing that they are working on but it happens wih me as well. I think it works better on Panther but I am not sure.

I haven't rendered in Studio because that's not my focus. I use Studio mainly for exporting Poser figures into Maya Unlimited for Mac. The exporter built into Poser 4, PPP, & P5 do not work. Sometimes the transmaps work, sometimes they don't. There's more consistency in Studio, and that's what I like - less hassle. -scara

I'm using the latest vesion on an old G4 iMac and loving it (first version since the original one or two that I'm happy with). I'm using the OpenGL for final renders, and for the type of shots I'm doing it flies. Despite the old processor, I'm popping out 2000x2000 final renders in 10-15 seconds, while the most complex shot I've done at 4000x4000 rendered in under 2 minutes, absolutely perfect for what I need. I haven't had it quit on me yet, even with using 3Delight; what settings were you using and I'll try to crash it. I'm using 10.3.5 at the moment. Biggest bugs for me so far: occasional "poly/mesh stretches" when I pose a model (saving/reopening fixes); filenames with uppecase extentions (eg. "PZ2" instead of "pz2") aren't seen by D|S; models without external geometry don't show up. Fixing the filename solves problem 2, opening the model in Poser and converting to a prop "fixes" problem 3. -- Walt Sterdan, Freelance

I am thinking it doesn't like anything but 10.3 but I am not sure. I still can't get it to render.

"I am thinking it doesn't like anything but 10.3 but I am not sure. I still can't get it to render." Possibly; I installed D|S on an even-older G3 iMac (which is below the spec's, BTW) running under 10.2 and did a couple of quickie renders using OpenGL -- no problems; in fact I was amazed at how well it did work, considering they ask for a G4. It popped out a very simple render at 2000x1500, AA on, in under 10 seconds. Switched to 3Dream rendering engine and it crashed after rendering. :( Are you able to render using the OpenGL? Not that you should have to, but I'm just curious how close they are. -- Walt Sterdan, Freelance

I upgraded to Mac OS X 10.3 less than two months ago and just today was able to download DAZ|Studio and import most Poser 4 content from Mac OS 9.1.
My primary complaint is that DAZ|Studio for Mac OS X doesn't recognize PICT textures, which are dimmed in the import dialog box. I also don't seem able to apply Poser 4 poses to figures in DAZ|Studio. I haven't tried rendering yet.

"I also don't seem able to apply Poser 4 poses to figures in DAZ|Studio. I haven't tried rendering yet." That shouldn't be a problem as long as you make sure that you have a figure selected in the Scene window before applying. What's happening when you try to apply a P4 pose (eg. error message, just nothing happens, etc.)?

Well I've try D/S. There is no really OpenGL rendering in D/S, because there is no way to turn on Anti Aliasing in the Mac Os. The lighting system is way to bright. Great toy but don't take it outside! Plus I can't get the bug page to open. This is definitely just sitting on the table by the window.
