Please excuse me because I'm basing my question only after using the C3 demo... Is there a "Velvet" shader available for Carrara? I've used a Velvet texture for comic book-style effects in Lightwave. I'm sure there'd be one available for Carrara but I just don't see it. Please don't lob too many rocks in my direction if the answer's totally obvious.

I think with the Shader Ops plug-in (from Eovia's Power Pack), velvet can be done.

What you want is an irridescent type shader. Which you can easily make with out an add ons. Though I'd always recommend getting Shader Ops you will find yourself using it over and over again. You can likely adapt the second shader here: http://www.vizualds.com/content.php?article.69 To make a nice velvet shader. Just remember highlight and shininess are the key. When I'm home I might make one up for you. Can you give us an idea of what type of velvet you are looking for? I'm picturing silky velvet, but you could be going for that fuzzy velvet. I should have a tutorial CD out on textures in Carrara soon. Which will hopefully help people out. Be sure to check out http://www.3dxtract.com And my site http://www.vizualds.com do a search at my site for shaders and you'll come up with all sorts of things. I'd also recommend http://www.shaders3d.com I have there entire collection and I will tell you, its great! Brian

Have to plug my stuff too- Shoestring Shaders includes an iridescence shader that might work for you. . . ;-) Markd
