yeah, that was my original idea for the challenge as well. although i had made a slug on speed (the drug). changed it once i got bored with the render. so yeah, nothing wrong with it whatsoever :) drac

LOL, I like it. The concept is funny, and the snail is very well done.
Kemal posted Thu, 28 October 2004 at 4:49 AM
That is definetly oposite of speed, or maybe he is super-fast comparing to the trees, speed is relative indeed, very good image, sir !!! And, certanly not of topic !!! :)

thank you for the support guys! Ok some minor retouch and I'll add it to the challenge. some tech info. Some metaball for the slug and the slime a lot of tori for the snail (I took the inspiration from a nice halloween image in the Bryce gallery, where the pumpkins were made of tori) 2 terrains for the floor Ornlu grass 2 lights (yellow and blue) + sunlight disabled :) cheers vasq

Is that the finish line or a line of speed on the sidewalk? :) double entendre is always good
danamo posted Thu, 28 October 2004 at 10:04 AM
Lol, I like it! Great-looking snail, and the slime is well-done too. Hmmm, that finish line could be salt too!
vasquez posted Thu, 28 October 2004 at 10:04 AM
it is the finish line (maybe is not too much visible) my idea is that the slug is on a competition, this may add more sense of speed (hurry) but also increase the contrast. Another intermpretation is that the slug is winning a race with other partecipants (rabbit, ferrari, etc.) so there may be a philosophycal lesson :P (ok ok... I know... I'm pissing outside the WC) truly yours vasq

You need to add some motion blur.
diolma posted Thu, 28 October 2004 at 3:07 PM
Just to be pedantic: "speed" = "rate of movement". It does not necessarily equate with "fast". Speed can be any rate of movement, be it slow, fast, stopped or even backwards. I've already had three of my ideas gazumped (people here are much "speedier" than I am..:-), so one more doesn't matter...I'll not get anything done in time for the deadline. (Not that I was getting far with any of my ideas in the 1st place; I kept running into problems outside of my area of skill. Which means I couldn't find a way to make a ball with lots of reflection applied look like a snail or a tortoise or a steam engine or a bullet or......) Cheers, Diolma (OH! - and I like the image too!)

Cool entry to the challenge Vasquez. I would say it is not out of topic in the least. 8)

I suggest to put a photofinish camera in your scene (maybe the newest model with laser beam. Ok, if you'll do this, tell me the time you're going to piss ouside. I have to synchronize my clock)
