POSER4 UTILITIES PC ONLY Dear Poser Downloaders, I don't want to have any legal issues to be raised against me and my isp provider (anyway we are too far from all western laws). Secondly --I have had it !!!! I am taking this page down. Thirdly Tell thank you to all those who made it possible to take it down. I am a mature person and I HAVE an idea of what i am doing. So let be it. 10GB server, letting everybody to have round the clock access is down due to people not even understanding a course. Yes, some authors allowed me to host their applications.some asked to have links to their pages i respected that.some threatenened me of legal actions.Silly the laws here different than yours.BuT anyway... And now FINALLY--- I know of 27 at least web pages hosting the same applications: exactly: in chinese, japanese, korean, thai, italian, swedish, polish, chech and many others: since most of you people speak only 1 language it makes sense that you can only take action against english, german, french speaking hosts. therefore there will be no more contribution from me to renderosity and other poser communities, and i will be acceses only to those who decides to contact me. BASTA!!!!FINITO!!!ZIEL!!! and many more... PS.Thank you guys for destroying my birthday present ....

Don't know what your talking about

pdblake posted Sun, 03 December 2000 at 6:29 AM

Dunga, you're no newbie, you should have known better than to post those utilities without first asking permission. If you had asked first I'm sure most people would have said yes. The simple fact that you went ahead anyway probably got most people's backs up. The idea is a good one, the method wasn't. In the end you ruined your own birthday present. That said, it's only human to make mistakes, don't take it to heart, learn from it.

And who is the ASS that want to take legal actions ??? Poser is not as popular as 3DMax, so any help from anyone should be rewarded (and not taking legal actions).. I'm not posting but just trying to learn and i see that i'll be better to learn other 3D package. Sorry about that Dunga, i was 100% supporting you, but it shows again that Poser don't have a future (People don't want it to do so) Well it looks like it's time change hobby...

JanP posted Sun, 03 December 2000 at 8:47 AM

Actually you are wrong Jarek. Yes Poser does have a future and yes it does need work. Suppose this Dunga guy was a jerk to some of the utility builders in the past. It only makes sense that they would not want to be on his page. After all they can post link and site info themseleves. No help is needed but it is sometimes appreciated. Rules are rules and if one cannot abide by the requests of the creator then they should have no right to use or distribute JanP

Not if people on here will be throwing legal actions on every person that is trying to help...if they don't want people to use it maybe they shouldn't make it in first place or make it as a Shareware. It will be not long before 3DMax will be able to do what Poser is capable of doing (and more). What i'm trying to say is this...if you don't want people to use it don't make it. Dunga did offer to put Credits to the Authors of this programs. Dunga could alway sell the Programs and make money..but he insted post all resources in one place...Is Tucows and all the other places like this breaking the 'law'??? Are they Jerks too ???

JanP posted Sun, 03 December 2000 at 9:39 AM

Tucows obviously got permission from creators and I'll bet were denied by a few. What can Poser do that MAX cannot? MAX is I think a $3,000 to $5,000 dollar program It is in that range however. Poser isn't trying to be a MAX or a Lightwave or even a Maya. Its purposly a lower powered program that is easy to use. When I first got Poser 2(I think it was) there biggest attribute was non raytraced shadow maps. At the time that was awesome since it was a fairly cheap application and its shadow mapping feature was faster than any program out there. Actully the bigest attribute of all was how fast it was able to render stills and animations with great higher end 3D quality. Poser will not likely be great totally on its own but more of a supporting program to the biggies like MAya TrueSpace, LW and MAX JanP And no. Dunga could not always sell the programs unless the creator said that they did nopt care what was done with them. Dunga would have to ask permission to do that too.

COMMENT: 'And no. Dunga could not always sell the programs unless the creator said that they did nopt care what was done with them. Dunga would have to ask permission to do that too' ANSWER: Yes he could...this is the Internet my man....anything goes..and it did happen before (look through the posts) that people took the stuff from FreeStuff and made CD's and sell this stuff on ebay and places like this (i'm sure they still are not sure about this don'k care for places where didtribution of ilegal software is legal...in some cases i should add) Any way the point is that any good programmer would be happy if someon would help them distribute their FREE software. With the technology this days any one and their dog can make good looking WebPages. Soon any one and their do will make good programs (take Visual Basic it can almost do what C++ can do). The point is that if you want your name to go out there to people and if you make the FREE programs for people do stop other places from distribute 'your' software. I'm done for this post, if any one has any personal comments let it go to my e-mail address.

to me i done care what anyone thinks with the distrbution of anyone software or material in any country with out permission is against the law and actions can be taken against the person who hosts/uploads the software but weather or not actions will be taken or if it is known about the hosting or uploading of the software is a different matter

Marque posted Sun, 03 December 2000 at 12:33 PM

I was happy to see everything in one place, and I appreciate what he tried to do for everyone, but some people want to have more control over what they have created and that is their right. If we abuse this right they will stop giving us access to their creations, (models or programs) and we all lose. It doesn't take much to ask permission first. Thanks for the present Dunga, I believe you were honestly trying to help the community out, but I also have to support the artists who for whatever reason did not want it done this way. Please respect their feelings as you would have them...and us...respect yours. 8^) Marque

dunga; didn't you do this before? take a bunch of other people's stuff and put it all in one convenient place? and what happened then? yep, same thing. people got annoyed. when are you gonna learn, man? don't do that. or at least ask first, and THEN do it. sorry it didn't work out.

JanP posted Mon, 04 December 2000 at 4:01 PM

I think you missed the point of my statement. Sure he could always sell the stuff, But that would be morally wrong and if done within this country and probably allied countrys, it would be illlegal. Recently some idiot was selling a CD on Ebay that had all the Zygote free stuff and Zygote smashed him even though he was only charging for the CD burning process. Why? because zygote plainly states that that activiety is strictly not allowed. THats that, and thats all that matters, What the owner syas what can and cannot be done. JanP
