Well a while ago I played with haze as a form of lighting. This above was done with haze (default sky, haze at 80%, sunlight disabled). There are no other lights in the scene. All building textures were set to a flat grey (about 10% ambience I think). Default render options with normal anti-alias (no premium settings) Render time - 4mins 32seconds on a pII 350 with 64MB ram While the lighting is a bit bizarre when you think about it, and its probably not that useful as a technique, here it is anyway.

And after 30 seconds with Luce filter. Not necessarily gallery worthy, but I thought it was an interesting effect. edit - render time was for an 864x620 pixel render.

quite cool actually, although i think this has more to do with ambience settings than it does with haze giving off light. still, interesting effect :)

Oh, the haze isn't giving off any light at all - its just the effect that the colour of the haze adds to the pic as the haze gets more predominat as you go deeper into the image, i.e things further away have more "haze" colour in them than things closer.

edit - just tried it with the grey building texture ambience at 0% - same effect - a little darker, but that was to be expected.

yeah, but it's of limited use though, isn't it? i mean what could you possibly render like that. it's a glorified depth mask. it's still cool though :) drac (cranky)

very limited unless you want hazy silhouette shots.
