Hi all I have to say that I am growing very tired of the whole guideline issue. With a family, 2 jobs, and trying to get back to actually creating again, I have waaaaay too little time to go on worrying about it. Barbara also has her share of outside work. We would much rather work on other things here (Challenges, etc.)....more fun stuff, you know? This whole thing came out of complaints, and has given rise to more complaints. So, we put it up for a vote, and the current guidelines came out the winner. But... Where is the support in the forum???? I see mostly complaints...again. So, the guidelines are coming down if we don't see any support for them here in the forum. As stated time and again, we are only trying to do the best for this community. So, here is your chance to be heard if you support the guidelines. We would only like to see those in favor of the guidelines post in this thread, please. Thanks, Nick

I support the guidelines, if they are just guidelines, no iron rules. This gives the different artists a help for choosing the appropriate gallery. And as far as I understood you, Nick, you did not want to establish new dogmata... This is my personal opinion resp. the guidelines. And the way I will handle them. As soon as you tell me the guidelines are posting laws, I'll have some difficulties perhaps...

I am in support of the guidelines. This is actually a no win situation. ANY decision that is made is going to bring out a group of people who will yell foul. You can't please everyone. The best you can hope for is that people move past the petty fighting and get on with creating the beautiful works they have always created. Life is way too short for so much angst over where to put them. You and Barb have a rough road, and it shouldn't have to be that way. I'm with Carol ((((((hugs))))) Miriah

I support the guidelines as well, and completely agree with Miriah and Carol. Without guidelines, anything goes. What then would be the point in even having seperate galleries for anything? I think Nick and Barbara have gone above and beyond the call of duty. I hope this is all settled soon for their sake and for all of us. ((((((hugs from me too))))) Terry

I'm for the guidelines. I think a final "ruling" (maybe not the right word) needs to be made one way or the other and this issue put to bed. Saw what Keith wrote in the thread above and I think it's food for thought... IMO, Too much of this forum's space is used to vent the frustrations of a few people who seem to thrive on controversy and not enough space spent on threads trying to cajole Keith into showing us all how to make spheres and Toby to clue us in on the nuances of iteration coloring in UF. Or MAYBE even talking Mike P.(melancon) into divulging his ultra-secret, super-duper flame rendering technique! - lol. Rick

ya, me too!! erm, what Rick and Kansas said. Basically I am for guidelines but like Gunsan, I think Andreas has some wise words up there. My idea of fractal focus certainly includes work such as Longriders, and others who combine items... The whole image except for insignificant (sorry, don't mean that in a harsh way) poser figures are fractal. It is clear to see the fractal in the image and that it was the impetus and muse for the image. Nick, Barbara, thank you for letting everyone explore their feelings on this subject so very thoroughly. Lets hope that as each one says their piece they then let it sleep.

I'd just like to say that I also believe Longriders work to be within the gallery guidelines. While he does use objects other than fractals to make his landscapes they are definately fractal landscapes and he uses the objects to enhance the fractal rather than using the fractal as a background for the object. ;o)

Sorry you are having such angst with this. I run a very busy discussion board with heavy political overtones, so I can emphathize. You wouldn't believe how mild these threads are next to some of the stuff I see every day on other forums.

Sometimes it seems as if no matter what you do and how hard you work, it's never enough and somebody is unhappy. That's the nature of discussion communities. I wish there was a magic formula....for you, me, and anyone else who does this thankless job.

I think it is human nature to fight against limitations, and I believe artists are especially touchy about being thwarted in this regard, and having someone else categorize and label something they've created. It's understandable.

I do wish you luck with this issue, and a speedy conclusion.
