Just testing out the new IK solver to see how it would function with only the joints and constraints. Works like a charm! There are a few little minor issues, like making sure that your constraints are set properly. Mine went a little hinkey on the first go-around, but I can place my hands and feet where I want them to go, and sure enough, there they go! It took about an hour to pose this piece. The basic movements took about 20 mins, the rest of the time was making sure that arms and hands didn't intersect the monkeybars. It originally was around 5 secs, but I expanded it to 10. And for those observant, yes, I did remodel the legs. The others, while cute, were too unwieldy even with the new IK pieces, and it couldn't do what I wanted it to do. Total rendertime at 320x240, with the least possible settings was 30 minutes. 3-point lighting. BG and Backdrop. No GI. Shadows set to default ray-trace. I just got C4 yesterday, and the new IK is definitely a vast improvement. I'm not into character animation, but I whipped up a chain (literally, a chain made of linked rings) and used the IK tool to make it work, and it was really nice! The links intersected each other, of course, because I hadn't set up contstraints, but when I dragged around the end of the chain it moved very nicely without the hangups and freakouts I'd sen in C3. I'm not much into character animation, or at least I wasn't with C3, but I just may give it a shot now.
