I read a tutorial that suggests creating a terrain and doing Posterize on it in the terrian editor to make varying height block to use as a city. When I do this in Bryce 4, I just get a spikey mess. Any ideas what I am doing wrong? What should the exact steps be? Thanks.

Dear Fred: You're working on the 'Bladerunner cities' tut right? The key is to click and hold on the posterize button and don't let go. Slide it to the left or right until you see definite 'steps' in the gradation of the terrain and voila'. The technique works really well as you can see by the image I attached of my bladerunner city. Hi Fred, When sliding the mouse left/right as Jade suggests, be sure you are holding down the ALT key. This will cause Bryce to reform the terrain in blocky patterns. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies. I'm on a Mac (don't worry, I've been a PC guy for 14 years... ;-) So there must be an equivalent key to hold down. I'll experiement tonight when I get home. Thanks again, I'm sure that's what's wrong.

On a Mac, I believe it's the option key. Have fun!

Played with it last night, the Option key made quite a difference :-) BTW, try using "Mounds" and then poserize, and you'll get buildings of different widths, etc. Especially effective with a dense (512 x 512) terrain. Now if I can just keep Bryce from crashing long enough for me to finish a picture, I can put one up here... Thanks to everyone.
