One of my favorite German cars- the GTI Rabbit 5-speed with sun roof. A great car to drive!

A Ferrari 612- an Italian Car that's fast and has a cute face as well. Great for getting the attention of those Italian babes...

Look super good. I broke down and ordered it today. Figure what evver is in pro I can wait to get. Can't wait to get this ~s~ Playing with the demo and the free hdr's I find some of the images are warped. Is there some setting to fix that? The image in the hdr I mean not the object placed in it.

Not sure what you mean by 'warped". Do you mean they curve away from the camera? A lot of HDRI scenes that you place your model into are like panorama images- so maybe that's what you're seeing. The link is to the Dosch site where they sell hi-rez HDR's to place your model (like a car) into the scene. You can see that some of these exhibit camera lens curvature...

Canadian I'm spending almost 300 bucks to get 5 and mover and shipping... I won't be buying anything else anytime soon ~s~ I'll do an image tomorrow and show you.

Where did you get those cars? Are them Poser ready? Thanks

Don't forget... some HDRI's are created as angular maps (light probes), some are spherical, cubic, mirrored ball, longitude/latitude, etc.

I don't know if Vue allows you to manually set up the HDR image in the format it's intended for, or if it tries to automatically match the HDR to the correct output, but "distortion" usually occurs when you're using the "wrong" type of HDRI format, or after having unwrapped a mirrored ball HDRI (for example) to longitude/latitude... you might end up with "pole distortion" when it's mapped to your environment.

In most other programs, the first thing you will need to do is convert the HDR image into something you can wrap around your scene. In HDRShop, you do this by converting the HDR image from an angular map to longitude/latitude format. I'm not sure how Vue deals with this though. Message edited on: 11/07/2004 14:33

Hi Ms Outlaw- looking forward to seeing your images! Staby- the Volkswagen GTI comes from the De Espona Collection. A few years back I bought the entire 9 CD Library for $500. It is absolutely the BEST model collection anywhere. It is loaded with great classic cars, among many other things. Main draw-back- the models are MAX ONLY. So you must have at least Max 3 (or Viz 3) to export them into 3DS or OBJ using the Habware plug-in. And so- they are not Poser ready, but work great in Vue.

Vue 5 loads ALL of the HDR file formats- as I have purchased a couple of the Dosch HDRI Collections, The set I'm using here is from the Chrome & Studio Effects set, but Vue 5 comes with a good FREE sample HDR from this collection, as well as some from the Dosch Skies and Nature Collections- so anyone owning Vue 5 can get a pretty good idea how they work- at no additional cost. Plus there are lots of good free HDR files- and yes, you can modify them in HDRShop, save them in all kinds of ways, and re-load them back into Vue 5...

If you are interested in HDR files and how to manipulate them- download the FREE HDR Shop software and edit your HDR's in all kinds of ways. They can even be edited in Photoshop via HDR Shop...

All these nice renders will soon make me like cars! ;o)

I have to tell a little story (talk button is on):

My absolute dream car since I was 12 years old is a Jaguar E-type, of early/middle 1960s.
I fell in love with it at first sight. I went with my mother to an auction. She loved to buy all kind of old stuff.
And there it was. Red. Shining. And so beautiful. I can't forget it. My first love.

You have one of them Veritas777?

Staby posted Sun, 07 November 2004 at 4:59 PM

I don't have MAX and I don't think I'll get it anytime soon... If I remember correctly in that collection there is a Fiat 500, right? Could you post a render when you find the time? Would love to see a Poser version of that classic car, my grandfather had one...

Rendo booted me out of vue first attempt at posting... tries again

Okay, I guess 'probes' aren't compatable, picture wise anyway. Can still use the lighting. Just within a scene where you don't need the picture.

I downloaded the shop, but think it's above me since they don't have "do this" button ~s~

This is the galiao probe from http://debevec.org/Probes/ btw rendered in draft mode, so rough.

A splendid car: E Type '61-'67 (can not be missing in your Poser collection) By Arduino (I haven't bought his yet- but here it is...) Will get to the Fiat 500 when I can. There's a TON of cars I need to work through (heh!) Ms_Outlaw-- yes, that's a light probe that should best be used for lighting only. It is great for a dreamy- Sci-Fi look however. Try some of the other FREE HDR files that come with Vue 5...

Ordered... hopefully it will be here this week. Thanks

Thanks. If someone knows about a good (classic) Fiat 500 in a format that can be converted in Poser please let me know. Tiny, there is also a jaguar coming out soon by Dudley. He has a lot of great cars in the works, check out his site!
