Congrats CZ, it's obviously a great pro-level app, with a lot of capabilities, but we hope you hang out here a lot too.

Cangrats, I know you'll have a long learning experience & there are so many more sites than just here. Poke your head in from time to time. Cheating?? (quoting the famous Shultz) "I SEE NUTTING..NUTTING"!! Art for arts sake!! ICM

Who'd you rob? Or are you just independantly wealthy? You WILL return to the fold. (We'll send Bryster and Drac after you! No one leaves!)

This place is just too home-ish. Even though I now use C4D for my main app (still use Bryce for terrains and backgrounds though) I still love to pop back in here.

hey, now you can create high-quality freebie models for us..right? right!?..;) you can always export to Bryce, as long as you don't use .max..;)

Most of the things I have made are rather naughty for my works over at 'rotica. I do have some stuff I could export to obj format (like the industrial katana I did) - just have nowhere to host them.

I'm evil too. I downloaded Blender. It's awesome, can do everything I've always wanted to be able to do (moviemaking wise, which is why I DO CG,) and it's totally free. That's why I've been gone lately. It saddens me, it really does! :(

pakled posted Mon, 08 November 2004 at 10:49 AM

I downloaded blender as well..it does everything except tell me how it works..;) May have to stop by the Blender forum and see what they have to say..;)

Sounds like a lot of us have D/L'd Blender lately. It may not have a real friendly, intuitive GUI, but the capabilities and amount of features are amazing, especially for freeware!

and for almost daily fotos

Coltzero posted Tue, 09 November 2004 at 12:55 AM

Hey guys, thnx for all your replys. You are right pakled, i could create models for ya, but first i wanna finish my Agony Aunt project first. After that, we'll see :o) I think i'll stay browsing around on this great forum, so be careful, cuz you will get some crude C&C :oP CZ

Blender is so typically Dutch. It wasn't freeware originally, but ran into financial difficulties, then there was a few months of sorting things out, and the originator managed to raise the money to buy the source code, then it was released as freeware. The Dutch are such practical people, I really admire the way they work with 'how things are' rather than 'how things should be' :^) Blender could have just disappeared down the pan......

Coltzero posted Tue, 09 November 2004 at 12:14 PM

so your saying that only dutch people use it? i DO have it, but i dont like it! terrible rendering, terrible texturing. Camera can only be controled (well) by keyboard... Its not worth giving a price, just keep it as freeware, so you can get 2 know the basics. i'd say Wings3d is way better! it doesnt have render-abillity's (read: very weak render abillity's) but it gets your trough the day! CZ

pogmahone posted Tue, 09 November 2004 at 12:44 PM

No, I'm just saying that the Dutch are ultra-practical, compared to most other nations. The Blender people developed something that didn't make money, so they've found a way to keep it alive, and distribute it for free, rather than abandoning it.
