I was wondering if it is possible to put guides into groups, so when I'm working on layout on one part of an image one set of guides is shown, and when I'm working on another part I can use a different set of guides so they don't keep propagating and getting all confusing.

not in the "normal" sense. by that i mean the guides you pull from the rulers...

you could create a set of rules by drawing lines in some "gawd-awful" colour and "lock" them together and turn that on and off...

i don't have CS, but i don't think it was a feature yet.

any other suggestions??

Yeah, I didn't think so. I hadn't thought about using layers as guides.. Not as convenient, but it might work. Thanks!

you're right, it's not the best way but i've done it in the past and after awhile you'll actually get quicker at it. one thing i'd recommend, make separate layers for each guideline... this allows for adjustments a WHOLE lot easier!!! i learned this the hard way!! then group em' and make a SET based on "linked layers".
