I'm bound to get shot down because of resource issues, but I'd personally love to see individual eyelashes as opposed to using transmaps. It's much more realistic for portrait work. I'm really enjoying watching her evolve Sera :)

ynsaen posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 12:32 AM

Seraphira, if, when you get to that point, you would like some assitance in mapping, please feel free to give me a buzz. I'm following this work closely. I've been using the same methods for constructing a figure strictly for personal use, but I'm not quite as quick at it as you ;). Nor as good. It's coming along wonderfully. I would like to see a mesh shot of the eyes area like the one you have above. Mesh density is a serious consideration for me, personally, and I am having some issues with it myself. Keep it going, and don't let anything make you give up.

Fantastic looking face - I can't believe the pace you're working at! Keep posting these updates, it is facinating to watch the progress.

Seraphira posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 12:56 AM

hi guys great ideas! Xena, unfortantly that would put a strain on computer resources as it is kaimira will already push poser's resources. ynsaen: unfortantly i am addicted to my computer LMAO! and i spend at least 4 to 16 hours every day working on her and other projects. I will be provideing a low res, this model u see here is the low res version of Kaimira. There will be morphs to seperate the lashes to make them fuller. :) I wanted to make sure as well that everyone will be able to use kaimira not just those have hulk machines ^_^. sigh i wish i had a super hulk machine LMAO! The ear looks alien. Seems she has two auditory canals. Check out Grey's anatomy book or some medical illustrations for some references. Yahoo search of "ear" and images brought up a bunch of decent examples also. So far the head look interesting. Nose and lips look really good. How ya gunna do eyes? Simple ball or cornea transperancy for more realistic?

ElorOnceDark posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 7:36 AM

Wow Sera! I had no idea you were a modeler of this skill! I've always admired your work, but this is amazing! I really look forward to the development of Kaimira.

Morris posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 8:17 AM

I am probably enjoying these previews as much as you enjoying modeling to create them ;-)

sandoppe posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 10:48 AM

Fascinating to be sure. I can't model anything, but watching these threads is not only interesting, but educational as well. I look forward to seeing the continued progress on her. Not sure if you mentioned it before or not, but what modeling software do you use and what level of capability does your computer have (ram, processor, etc.)? BTW: if you're sitting in front of your computer that many hours in the day, you're going to need a good chiropractor soon! Between my work and my hobbies, I'm in front of a computer about 12 hours a day....it takes a toll after awhile :)

Seraphira posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 11:07 AM

hi sandoppe, it does takes it's toll on me after a while, usually my knees, u ever had ur ass fall asleep? LOL! hahahhaa sorry i just had to say it it was so funny but it's true. I'v had that happen to me a few times lmao. I usually go for 5 to 10 min smoke breaks to stretch my legs. The program i use is 3d Studio max 5.1 P4 3.4ghz, 4 gb of ram, 400 gb hd space with hyper threaded raid. :) But the model will work on slower machines I have a slower machine which i can test Kaimira on. Education is always a good thing, there's no such thing as can't sand, you can do anything if given the time. :D morris honey I am glad you're enjoying them. it's so nice to see people's faces light up with joy. ^_^ gives u that nice warm fuzzy feeling lol. Hi machine how are u honey? I am glad you're still following kaimira's creation and giving imput. :) i am not sure if it's the lighting... but i do know what the problem is with the ear. :) thanks for letting me know. oh yes with her eyes she will have a realistic eye with cornea transperancy, and seval iris layers to give a more realistic effect. There will be more options to the eye now with these new methods. :) Ps I am starting from the bottom and working my way up to the top of Kaimira's body, at this point i am modeling her feet. hehe. Ok here's a picture of a really crude leg LMao no toes yet which I will be modeling today. :) the leg is at it's lowest state as of right now. :) Sera

leather-guy posted Thu, 18 November 2004 at 12:23 PM

Incredible work so far. "I'm bound to get shot down because of resource issues, but I'd personally love to see individual eyelashes as opposed to using transmaps. It's much more realistic for portrait work." "Xena, unfortunately that would put a strain on computer resources as it is kaimira will already push poser's resources." How about including a "LashesGone" morph, like the old BrowsGone morph on the DAZ MilFIgures for those who have the resources for add-on modeled lashes or who want to create hair lashes in P5? I too would love to see a wireframe view, especially around the mouth and eyes to get an impression of the morph capabilities possible. Another random thought - How about including versions with and without extraneous modeled detail like the toes (often covered by footwear) and ears (often covered by hair) to soften the resource "hit" in complex scenes.

nope I haven't welded the two halfs yet. The other side of her face is mirrored. "referance" it's like modeling two sides at once it's a nice feature. :) Once she's done all i have to do is copy other half with the mirror feature then attatch them together and then weld the verts. :D I do this while still in low res model then i just do mesh smooth and then collapase the stack. Voila :D I am back to work on Kaimira today. see it's nice to have a small pitstop.XOXOXO I will post new screen shots and preview images. oh my LOLOL! ur right it's 2010000! woot! that's pretty sweet. hi everyone! :) I have more previews, Please note that her legs are not fully finished and there will be more details put in and i will be adding toes. I wanted to give her longer legs then V3, i feel her legs are too stubby LOL! hi chuck, I will be creating her hair as well hopefully i would be able to include it in Kai's package. Here's the mesh view, right now i am doing renderings to see the legs. I haven't done much work on her bum and genital areas yet. I wanted to do the basic body first before i put in the details. Sera

Seraphira posted Fri, 19 November 2004 at 8:09 PM

hi i am back! ok a few things you might see wrong, her legs may look a bit off and her feet, as you will notice over time i will be correcting these errors, these legs are just a ruff draft, and which i will be adding more detail and molding them. these are just the basic shape of the legs. :)

8 (best), 4 (not bad), and 7 (looks a bit too much like a hair style a women would be found with sipping champagne at an "A list" party...not what I see her as in my mind). To sum up, I'm expecting something that can range from 18 -24 and sassy. Doesn't mind saying what's on her mind and telling a guy with a sad pick-up line in a bar to get lost. Confident look on her face. With a bit of wild streak in her. And, for that kind of personality, I see #8 and #4 fitting the best. I don't mind #6 so much but it would definitely need some morphs to get the hair out of the eyes (when necessary). # 1 looks like Nana Visitor...and that style looks a bit too wild (and therefore not offering enough "range) for various types of use. OK, there! Said my piece. Hope no offense.

Hi sweethearts :), *Super Grin* I think it's very important to have the community to have a say in Kaimira's creation because I want her to be what everyone wants and needs. I think it's important specially in a project this size the people should comment or have a wish they wanna see Kaimira have, it helps me to create a better model, Besides I have so much fun showing the previews and see the people's faces light up it also keeps me going and going too makes me work harder. :) I think people's opinions are very important good and the bad. Speaking of treats! I am doing the upper part of the body and will attatch her head soon Kaimira's body is still in the low grade version and tons of detail and resizing key areas still need to be done Once she's finished We will start the Material sections while still in low res it's alot easier specially on this type of model. :) it's quick and easier this way specially for me LOL! I will show some more previews on this. now question folks, about the nails? Do you want different shapes like oval tips, sqaure tips, pointed tips, straight and curved long nails and short nails. I will be doing the nails different as well since real nails have a sight transperancy to them not seethrough but it will give a sense of realism to the nail as well the user can remove the nails alltogether with morphs say someone banged their thumb and it was damaged. I will show some previews on what i mean to give an idea. XOXOX Sera I love to hear ur rants and raves thoughts and concerns. :D but please note that her body is still in the stage of devolpment. :)

Xena posted Sat, 20 November 2004 at 9:42 PM

I always set Vicki's nails to about 15% transparency, so I'm REALLY glad you've given Kaimira's some thought :) Yes please on the tip shapes. I know for myself I like to have different shapes sometimes, as it really changes the look of your whole hand. Body is looking good so far. Love those long legs ;) Poor girl has hips like me ;P

outoftouch posted Sun, 21 November 2004 at 3:20 AM

Love those long lengs too :) And I would really like to have some different nail shapes too! That's a great idea :)

ynsaen posted Sun, 21 November 2004 at 4:04 AM

THis might sound odd... 1 - yes on nail tip shapes. Bitten, broken, manicured, boy 2 - Nail length morphs that actually curve a bit would be nice, too. however, what I think would really be a great feature is a "claws" morph. Something where the nail and finger become a claw, perhaps slightly different degrees of beastiness.

kobaltkween posted Tue, 23 November 2004 at 2:38 PM

can i request a hair style 1 add on? after the others is fine. i can understand how it's not "versatile" but it's also one of the few short and boyish styles i've seen proposed. and i've seen more styles like that around the (huge) college campus where i work than 6 and i think even than 7 (which is so 80s looking i think it would catch my eye). i would actually vote for style 4 before 8, if voting isn't completely closed. ( 4, 1, 6 would be my vote, in order of preference)

Seraphira posted Tue, 23 November 2004 at 9:14 PM

kobaltkween posted Wed, 24 November 2004 at 4:19 PM

oh, and i love the waist. it has the length i've been waiting for. even the new aiko from daz has a rather long waist (shorter than her siblings, but still over much), even though short waists to go with long limbs are noted in anime. and it's not just the waist to leg ratio- using the long legs morph doesn't help. it's the arc of the curve of the waist and the waist to head ratio. for some reason, most of the other figures besides lady littlefox's creations seem to have continued this elongated waist trend. this is exactly the kind of figure i've been waiting for. will you have morphs to add and subtract weight and muscularity? realistic flabbiness at any amount and on any part of the body is another place the daz products have disappointed me. and i can't understand what goes on at the hip of any daz character when you add muscles. i know you already said hundreds of morphs, but i'm incredulous in a "you're telling me there really is a santa claus?" way, so i figure it's better to be sure. also, i think it will help get people to salivate more. again, beautiful, beautiful work.

Seraphira posted Wed, 24 November 2004 at 8:48 PM

hi there cobalt! :D Well there will be some few tid bits, There will be morphs to make her a waif, emacated, overweight, and extremely overweight. There will different levels of fitness as well as realisticly toned, and different types of muscularity and choose the muscels you want to change. More different hip types, small, large, hourglass, aline hips, the breast sizes will come in cup sizes for an example A, b, C, D, E, F, DD, EE, with sclupting morphs to change the breast shape. This will give you a basic idea of the morphs, but this only touches the surface though. When we get to the stages of morphing her I will give u more details then. Here's a quick preview of her body, remind you she still needs a lot of work and lots of details and reshaping key areas. Sera

Seraphira posted Wed, 24 November 2004 at 8:51 PM

Getting the basic shape is most import first, once we have that down we can start working on the details. Like the hands and feet will be done next after I'v added more definition to the breasts and fixing the lower tummy to reduce the bloated look. Here's some more preivews, ps sorry about not giving u guys updates for a while.. heh i'v been a busy bee humming away at modeling. Sera

ChuckEvans posted Wed, 24 November 2004 at 9:14 PM

Hey, Sera... In order to model something that is looking so nice, you must be able to draw something good, too, right? I looked around to see what I could find about you...expecting to see some good pencil or charcoals...but I can't find anything.

Seraphira posted Wed, 24 November 2004 at 11:11 PM

hi Chuck, You're right i'v been drawing ever since i was a little girl, mostly comics and as i became older i turned to painting. I see it in my head and it's just comes out on paper. I never had the money for art classes just the basic in junior high and high school. I can't tell you how much I love art, it's in my blood in my soul. I'd love to show u some pictures of my drawings but I don't have a scanner. unless i could take a picture of it lmao! :D I did some small time work over at topps comics nothing majorly big, years after I started into 3d graphics I started with simply 3D 2 yes i know it was horrible! it was a cheap program to start me off on the right foot. For my birthday my uncle baught a used version of 3D studio max first version. I was so confused on how to use it and hardly no resources I was stumped. Years later i learned max's in and outs. Five years past I was offered a job modeling for a small 3d animated Kids TV series called the Lil Dudes for a local TV network. I never did any rigging or animation just modeling. That was quite fun, show aired for a few weeks and the kids lost interest lmao! Years later here I am. I still can spline model to save my life lol it still confuses me. You wanna know something funny chuck? My vision is not exactly 20/20, I can't see in 3D, meaning like those movie glasses that have blue and red lenses in them they have no effect on me what so ever, as well with depth preception is off as well, still my brain adjusts, I have no idea how but it does LMAO. I always ask does this look right or this looks ok, because i can't tell if it's off or not. XOXOX Sera

ChuckEvans posted Wed, 24 November 2004 at 11:37 PM

Thanks for the long reply (which takes you away from "Kai"...smile). This info should be on your artist page (nudge). As to your eye problem? I empathize. I have it, too. There is a word for it (but I can't remember it). My eye doctor told me I had it. Basically, assuming it is the same thing as yours, my eyes don't see in stereo. He said that the eyes focus separately and that depending on the object I am focusing on, the nearest eye to it does the focusing and the other doesn't do anything. The 3D glasses don't do a thing for me and looking in stereo microscopes is a waste of time, too. To top it off, I'm partially color blind (tans, beige, eggshell, lavendar, light yellow, etc...that range of color looks about the same to me). But, enough of eye problems! LOL Looked at your wishlist...and I can't really see any photo references that would seem to do justice to Kai. Keep up the good work and enthusiasm!

Seraphira posted Thu, 25 November 2004 at 12:09 AM

yes i am having a problem to find super crisp images. I am very fickle about that type of stuff. Nicu1 has a great resource so far. The newer images are quite crisp. but the one i was looking at skins tone isn't right. if it's a nice medium lightish color I can change that from light carmal cream color to black. Chomofilo has an awesome resource of stuff, but he doesn't accept paypal Sigh. :( I can see colors fine, but we have the same problem with the 3d and etc. Nah sometimes i needed a small break. stretch my legs. Thanks chuck I will try my best to make everyone enjoy Kai to the fullist. I hope people will have fun with her. Sera

you have my deepest condolences. just to let you know, i wasn't posting to prod, but to let you know that we're still here and we're still interested. get back to the project when you have time and when it helps more to work and create than not to do so. we'll be waiting. i'll keep an eye on your forum.
