When I put many trees in a scene Bryce does this. What's going on? Is this an actual glitch in Bryce? URL's: http://www.angelfire.com/vamp/renderprises/helpme1.jpg http://www.angelfire.com/vamp/renderprises/helpme2.jpg http://www.angelfire.com/vamp/renderprises/helpme3.jpg

Yep, it's a glitch. Not sure if the 5.1 patch helps with this or not (I don't have the patch). This seems to happen when trees are too close together, or when there is a lot of haze. It's a pain in the arse, but I usually move the trees around until they become "whole" again.

You can fix it if you change each tree slightly in the tree lab so they're not exact duplicates of each other.

Yep what haloedrain said or instead of duplicating them make a new tree for each, either way works.

It sill does it even with the 5.1 patch and as said, it seems to happen when duplicate trees are too close. Create a new tree for the trouble spot or spread 'me out.

okay, I'll try the what you guys said. Thanks for the help; I appreciate it!

Mrscience, I believe this has to do with the fact that Bryce trees are metaball objects and react like this when put in close proximity to each other.

To close and need to change...So yes everything said above... Note to all users... Save your Tree's as an OBP file then Most times this doesnt happen...Why I am not sure...At least on my machine it seems to stop...

I did a series of tests on trees a while back and the thread should still be available here in the forum. The issue is that if you are using duplicated trees they interfer as the settings are identical. tweak one or two of the parameters in the treelab for each tree and this no longer happens. It is indeed a glitch.

Pass no temptation lightly by, for one never knows when it may pass again!
