Does anyone know if characters/objects/props created in PixelLogic's ZBrush are importable into Poser?

If you can export a zbrush model in a file format that poser understands then it should be possible.

I am looking into ZBrush for modelling 3d items. Never used it before and on pixelLogic's web site I can't find where it talks about ZBrush's import/export ability or what formats it supports. I was hoping maybe someone here used both Poser and ZBrush.

Both programs read and write .obj format files, so yes, all prop-type things can be transferred. There are lots of threads in Pixologic's ZBrushCentral forum about using Zbrush with Poser. The only thing you can't do is expect a complete figure made in Zbrush to pop into poser already "boned". You'd still have to do that part in Poser's setup room; but Zbrush is excellent for making poser morph targets for existing figures.

Just note that ZBrush can support a much higher ploygon count than Poser can, so make sure not to make your ZBrush model too dense. In other words, be careful with your smoothing. ZBrush can make models of a few million polygons, and Poser starts choking at about 200 000 on my machine.

One thing I have noticed when creating figures/clothing or props for Poser in Zbrush, is that ZBrush will not remember materials when you finally go to export. This also goes for group names as well. I would strongly advise opening your model in UVMapper and setting up your different materials and groups into locations where it will be easy to simply select and re-apply the correct names before importing into zBrush (I don't know if this applies to full body morphs).
I hope this functionality is resolved in Zbrush 3.0.
Apart from this, Zbrush is just the best for creating not just morphs but new characters/clothing etc (cloth wrinkling is just like modelling in clay).

What is UVMapper? Thanks.
