I modelled this in less than 10 minutes for a challenge over at 3dfightclub.com (which is a nice place for folks like me who don't make a living doing this sort of thing, but still work better if they've gotten someone telling them, 'Hey, see how fast you can model a mushroom.'). Was kinda proud of this one, so I thought I'd share with you guys and try to revive the old 10-minute challenges here... if only for a moment. :o) modelled as one object in the spline modeller, then taken to the vertex modeller to twist the base a bit so that all the creases didn't line up, and to tilt the cap some. Texture is just a color gradient from top to bottom with some bump and highlight thrown in. Modelled in around five minutes and textured in about the same. so take 10 minutes out of your busy day and let's do some 'shrooms... 8D

with wire-frame...

... and shader tree, if anyone's interested.

Well. I had to take those 10 minutes in account. But I am learning my ass off in Amapi, so I thought I could do something in there. I could not figure more shading tricks out to remove the specks from the stem, but this is the Dutch clichmushroom. You know, the one in which dwarfs live... Maybe I will try another one completely in Carrara..

Here's mine. The mushroom took about five minutes to model but I spent twenty minutes or so setting up the rest of the scene. It's a vertex model, basically a lathed outline deformed with the magnet. The gills are inward extrusions with unlinked polys. AnythingGrows of course for the grass.

Here's my very lame entry. I won't tell you how much longer than 10 minutes it took me. *Sigh* Lighting always kils me. I whipped up the shroom and terrain in 10-20 minutes but then spent... much longer trying to texture and light things. I really like the moon in the background from one of the sky presets, but can't get the contrast, color saturation, and such to look anywhere close to "right". The shroom and the ground don't look close to belonging together. Oh well. Your entries look very nice. - Jasen.

Some nice work guys but I wouldn't eat a one of them ;-)

Of course I wouldn't eat this one either.
I can't do anything in Carrara in only 10 min :-( So I used a preset and Anything Grooves and Veloute and still ran over fussing with the settings.
