Subject: Serious Problem In The Bryce Gallery!!!

Several of the other artists here, and I'm not naming names, continue to post pictures with themes that I was thinking of doing.

These other artist are doing these pictures much better than I would have. This is depressing me.

I must insist that more crappy pictures be uploaded to the gallery. If you are currently working on a picture that is in any way similar to one which I have thought of, I must insist that you either stop and delete the file, or use only preset materials.

Thank you.

Then again, maybe I'm just bored and don't feel like putting any real effort into anything right now.
edit ~~ did not mean to imply that using only preset mats makes a picture crappy.

I agree with xenic. I'm getting sick of looking at pictures that are 100% better than mine. It's about time you guys started showing some consideration to us poor lousy image producers and made yours 95% worse than ours, PLEASE ;) PS: this also means no postwork to be done on images.

Do what I do and put post-it notes on the screen over the good images.

Yup I've been there. Just when I thought I had the last challenge sewn-up, along comes a few dozen brilliant renders that blow me off the screen. But don't panic, rumours persist (thanks to me) that Bryce 6 will have a 'make-render-like-rochr' button.

hey, I'm doing my part..my gallery has about 130 pics, and I've deleted at least that many..;) note the lack of superfine textures, the wavy textures on the building, the lack of facial expression (well, she's turned away), the 'marshmellow effect' on my catwalk prop..the list goes on and on..;)
don't feel bad, imagine having in mind to do a model, and someone comes along and makes a better one before you even started (although I was part of a rush of rayguns..I do have the crappiest one, though..;)

This is really bizzare...I don't usually post here in the forum but there must be something in the air because I did this over the weekend...

I ran by this thread and decided to post my render in the gallery. I feel your pain. :)

RodsArt posted Mon, 29 November 2004 at 12:29 PM

OK, Guess I'll have to be the first.....But I'm not bearing my soul alone...ANYONE with more than 2 years here gotta follow suit. These are a couple of my very first postings EVER!! I actually had more time clocked in with Poser at first, and I was using PhotoShop 3.3.

We all gotta start somewhere!!

I started with Poser when it came on three 3-1/2 floppy disks. About that time I picked up Bryce 3.

Most of my earlier stuff has been wiped. It has actually proved to cause blindness in some people. I still correspond with the family of one man who developed dementia after taking a look at one of my first bryce renders.

Maybe our first public renders would make a great November challenge? Just warn people not to view after eating a meal. :) I'll dusk off the old harddrives and have a look.

Shame, I have to wait a few more months for my 2 year anniversary. It feels a lot longer though. ;-p

Drawbridge, you can post your first one a few months early.

drawbridgep posted Mon, 29 November 2004 at 2:28 PM

OK, I may not have been here 2 years ago, but I've had Bryce for a LONG time. Here's an early one I created with my first version, an old metacreations demo. (Hence the watermark). As you can see, I've not improved much. Still doing space ships.

Linked to my first uploaded picture. I'm actually redoing this one right now. Got more clothes on the girl and the scene is going to be more developed on the whole.

The picture was done 9/3/02, shortly before the one at the link. It was my only render in poser, to date.

2.5 years at this site and I just rolled onto the third page of my gallery. Time to spew out more pictures.
