Subject: How to save as 24bit BMP?

I still can't figur out how to get a 24bit BMP file? I start from scratch making some pics, manipulate and want to save it as 24bit BMP... thx for help...

You're doing File->Save As->BMP, right? What's probably happened is that your started off in indexed color mode (possibly by loading a GIF to start with?)

very helpfull, I figured it out late at night and wasn't able to post yet, I started creating from CMYK. I couldn't get a BMP from it, started looking around in different modes, but it was only possible to get a 24bit BMP if I started a new layer (as RGB) put my image in it and then save as 24bit BMP. Very strange I couldn't save to BMP once switched back to RGB... But thx for this fast and good response!

I'm not near a computer that has photoshop on it right now but I believe you can go into file/save for web and there you can choose jpeg or different BMP options that allows you to choose 24bit and rasterize if you want to. many options.
