I've posted several pictures of the space ship I've been working on. I'd like to post more as I've made some progress with the textures and a couple of (to me, at least) neat morph targets for the air lock hatches (nothing special but...) However I also frequent the Poser list, now it may be a bit hysterical but over there everyone is pulling any fan based freebies AND fan based art. While I know the owner of the Traveller copyright, and don't think he would have a problem with me showing off this model (heck he might even think of it as free advertising, I'll have to ask)I want to follow the site rules. Therefore my question... Is posting a render of a model build based on previously copyrighted art, movies, television, etc (fan art)by way of asking for comments, breaking the TOS? I'll wait on posting here until I get an answer, since I like it here and really don't want to break any rules ore cause any problems. Also to that effect, PLEASE, DO NOT use this thread as a sounding board about the pros or cons of the site rules! I am simply asking a question to clarify the established rules. Thank you for your understanding, mike

Hi Mike, Art is ok. Posting items in Free Stuff using someone elses work/geometry/textures is not. Some model creators that offer their geometry for free request they receive acknowledgement on images created using their work. That should be honored to keep everybody happy. If you want to be sure about the Traveller, contact the owner directly so you "know" instead of "think" it's all right. I don't think you'll have a problem though. :) Here is the exception to gallery/forum art: if background images have been used from television or movie productions etc., using it is a no-no since those items are copyrighted. The only problems I've encountered is when individuals wrongly assume that purchased or downloaded free content on their computers is completely theirs and offer it in Free Stuff in some variation. That's a big no-no. Renderosity and other sites have very specific redistribution terms that can be summed up in one word: Don't. Let me know if you want any more clarification. Mark

Thanks Mark I have sent a note toward Marc asking his stance on using the space craft highlighted in the Traveller RPG. As I said I don't expect that to be a problem. mike
