Where can I find a model of a dodecahedron or tutorial on how to make one myself. I neen to model DaVinci's regular dodecahedron as illustrated in Luca Pacioli's De divina proportione. Thanks,

FYI I have looked at "market place" search tool at this site and find some primitives items that include dodecahdra but they are for vue 4 (?) nothing for Bryce... Thanks

There is a standard dodecahedron primitive in Wings3D...freeware. You could export from there and into Bryce.

cut-n-paste the above into a new txt file. change the extension to obj, and import that file. Too lazy to figure out how to upload.

What do you know... It works!

xenic101 posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 9:40 PM

Um, just exported the dodecahedron from wings, opened the obj with notepad, cut-n-pasted into the forum. Not everyone has wings on hand and I was in a helpful mood. It does seem to need unsmoothed a little. I almost reposted a uv-mapped version but it was late and I messed up the first map. You people are odd.

Thank you very much but when I follow your instructions I get an error. The error is invalid target. C

xenic101 posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 1:01 AM

Are you useing notepad? Many of the 'higher' wordprocessors add symbols and whatnot that will mess up the file.

zakalwe posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 11:47 AM

Sorry, maybe I didn't understand the joke here ;P If the question is simply where find a dodeca, there is the default bryce one since version 3 (or above, but I can't remember)

calculusfx posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 10:31 PM

zakalwe, that is not exactly what I mean refer to DaVinci's regular dodecahedron as illustrated in Luca Pacioli's De divina proportione. It will be a start but it looks like I'll have some work to do. Currently I'm using bryce 3d and there is no dodeca in the objects library (default) I should try the tool kit and see if there is one in there. Thanks everyone for your input.

I'm sure someone could isolate and post the obp to you. If they don't let me know...........(sorry, very busy atm)
