This by way of an appetiser/teaser. Just uploaded to DAZ, so maybe another week or two for loaders etc but I couldn't wait to unveil the next model. It may be because I just love Ostriches but i'm really pleased with this one. Homage once again to Ajax for having made this possible with his Easi-Pose Underground_ this fellow has one extremely poseable neck!

noggin posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 3:37 PM

The set comes, as usual with a set of 'get you started poses' _ 24 in all_ 8 running and 16 standing (see image)

noggin posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 3:41 PM

In addition there'll be a seperate conforming armor & saddle set with 5 texture sets themed on animal furs. I won't burden all of you with all the promo images_ but here's the front page shot..

noggin posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 3:43 PM

I should have said, Vickie armor is by the wonderful John Malis ( a combination of his sets available at DAZ) Here's one of the armour sets..

dialyn posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 3:51 PM

He looks wonderful! Great job, noggin. The detail is terrific. :) Is this a new category...VSO (Vicky with a sword on an ostrich)???

ChuckEvans posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 4:55 PM

LOL. Yes, qite the imaginative armored fighting creature there...the "dreaded ostritch attack".

ArtyMotion posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 5:04 PM

This is UNBELIEVABLY cool! ROFL

Just in case anyone was wondering, as I am sure you all were, lol, it is possible to ride an ostrich. The only trick is to get on without the thing kicking you to death. You will notice how the legs are wrapped up on the ostrich.

Any chance you have a Flamingo planned, Noggin? I love all your animals and either have them or have them on my wishlist. This guy will definately be one of my next purchases.

Petunia posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 7:07 PM

Noggin, I love it!! You do such wonderful animals!

MoonRose posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 7:22 PM

looks great :) is the body easily scalable? like to make it bigger? Towal: noggin has a flamingo in the marketplace here

dlk30341 posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 7:26 PM

Any chance of emu and cassawary morphs?

noggin posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 1:37 AM

Thanks everyone! Moonrose the body has a fluff fbm. tho tricky to produce a really large fluffed up male. Towal between these four walls my flamingo here is a bit 'developmental' and I think you'll find Lynne's over at VIP more lifelike.

Towal posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 2:15 AM

ah I won't shop here so that explains why I didn't know there was a flamingo here :( I didn't realize Lyne had one either so I will check there as well thanks for the heads up. I love all animals and will buy most any animal model that looks good (and even some that don't such as the Mil Big Cat). Does a poser Giraffe exist if anyone knows right off. Also do you have a list of items you plan for future releases, Noggin or are the great unwashed masses not privvy to that type of info ;)

noggin posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 2:50 AM

Towal, There's a giraffe over at Lyne's too_ think its by Debra Ross if memory serves me right. Hey who says I'm not with the unwashed masses! I do have a mental list but there's little point in publishing it as I don't like to raise expectations on timing (and sometimes my ideas just don't work out) I also do listen to peoples requests on the forums and sometimes if those ideas appeal they leap up the list! :-)

hauksdottir posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 6:57 AM

Let's see.... black bow tie for the ostrich, red cape for the alligator, and Judith's little stage from last year's Christmas suite. ;^) Carolly the Wicked

SimonWM posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 2:01 PM

Awesome work, as always Noggin. Waiting for it to hit the DAZ store. Does anybody remembers Disney's Swiss Family Robinson Ostritch race?

randym77 posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 2:27 PM

Oh, man. This is amazing! I know what I'm spending my Christmas money on.... ;-)

LilWolff posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 4:28 PM

My Otto!! Oh wow! Fantastic I have been wanting an ostrich for years! I shall have to get all my pictures together for this.

Otto danced with me every day when I took my walks after work. I loved that feathered fellow he really brightened up my day with his greeting. Was so very special that he would come to the fence as soon as I called while walking down the hill.

The transformation from gangly ostrich to beautiful swan like motions when he danced was a wonderful sight. Was so hypnotic that you couldn't help but dance with him. :-)

I am so glad you did this in 3D. I really do miss him and the wonderful dancing each day. Although there are other ostriches there now, it just is not the same. You have a perfect down pose with the legs in front, will have to see if the wings come up enough and the head will tuck side to side to replicate the dance. And of course his graceful gentleman's bow at the end. :-)

Any plans on doing a female texture?

Ophelia was there too, but she only gave a simple nod and ignored me most of the time. Think she was ignoring Otto too, perhaps that is why he danced for me. grinning

I've also seen them peck people on top of the head.

It looks like that ostrich's beak is tied shut, too.

You've got an unusual product here.

Personally, I wouldn't care to ride one of these into battle..........the bird would probably be angrier at its rider than it would at the enemy.

Of course, your enemy might laugh themselves to death. Especially if the girl riding on the thing was wearing a bikini.

Ah, well......fantasy is fantasy.

Anything's possible.

noggin posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 5:46 PM

LoL LilWolff I too experienced a dancing Ostrich who took a fancy to my long haired son_ It was incredibly graceful and somehow quite mesmerizing!

Towal posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 11:39 PM

I would love to see some real baby animals of almost any sort. We have adults and no true babies. I don't think scaling down the adults looks right personally (and I'm not necessarily skilled enough to manage it well either).

Other animals (with babies) that I would like to see (and some of these may be out there. I haven't looked at every poser site I'm sure)

Hippo
Squirrel
Hedgehog
Raccoon
Bear (I think there is a real old bear available maybe?)
Pig
Cow
Moose/Elk/etc
Badger
Skunk
Bunnies
Weasel/Ferret/Mink/etc
Chinchilla
Sheep (I know there are toony sheep out there but I haven't seen a real one)

That is just a quick list off the top of my head. I, myself, will buy nearly any good animal model people can come up with as they are pretty much my favorite topic. I have human models only because there aren't enough good animals out there ;)

Ethesis posted Wed, 08 December 2004 at 12:22 AM

Well, I'd like a white raven and, in fantasy creatures, a human/crab demon creature. Though this looks rather neat -- I'm just not sure what to do with one (especially since in the real world the ranchers have been letting them loose, now that the market has dropped out of the pyramid scheme).

XENOPHONZ posted Wed, 08 December 2004 at 12:46 AM

I never found the idea of eating an ostrich to be appetizing.

Towal, check out VistaInternet. They have many of the animals (and babies) that you want. Some of them are original models, some of them are morphs, remaps, and textures of Poser or DAZ animals. They are excellent quality and look great.

Check out the product listing here: http://www.vistainternetproducts.com/products.htm

Not that Lynn's isn't nice, but for the price/performance, Noggin's is pretty sharp, especially his latest work (look at this Ostritch he is selling right now -- beats anything like it in the Poser world). Which is why you have people posting here, encouraging Noggin on towards other things. Same for Sixus1, who is going to do some animals. Which? Ah, there is the rub. Same for Noggin. And Lynn has some nice, very nice things on http://www.vistainternetproducts.com/ too. Anyway, it is a great and growing world these days.

Ethesis posted Wed, 08 December 2004 at 3:13 PM

http://www.daz3d.com/shop.php?op=itemdetails&item=1830 Darn, he has a raven! Just bought it, and will report how well it does in white. If Sixus1 does a raven too, I'll get that one as well, but otherwise, I'm now up to my quota for ravens.

Excellent Ostrich! I've never encountered one...being from the midwest....but I know they have a mean kick! I'll be looking for this release Noggin. Your critters are grand! :)

Well, if it sails through QA it will offer an alternative to turkey for Christmas dinner. Um, don't tell the ostrich though.

OH what fun Noggin! Count me in! :) That face (if one could "love" an ostrich face) is perfection! :D

Thanks for the nod to my Flamingos, and yes, I have babies in some of my sets... baby birds, some babies for the sheep/goats.. Debra has a calf and lamb with us, as well as a Giraffe - that I did some textures for, for the different looks that a giraffe has! :) All the products are cross linked to find the companion sets!
