I was wondering if anyone could point me to some tutorials or technics that would allow me to make a good treasure pile of coins in Bryce. I have a good coin model and I've tried to texture wrap a seamless texture of coins to a heap but it jsut looked like what it was. Anyone have some ideas that would make this look more realistic? Thanks for any help.

You could always go to DAZ3D and download the dragon hoard..which has sevral mounds of coins as well as stacks. And...if I remember right...it was a freebie.

If you have a good coin model, why cannot you multi replicate it?

I've been trying this for some time. Multi replicating often leaves unsighly patterns. If you search for my name in the Carrara forum, you can see my progress trying to do this with Physics! I'd like to fill a scene with a few mounds of it, but my 700MHz ATX could'nt cut the mustard. I'm afraid it's actually real tuff to do much of that with any desktop. Good luck with Bryce, please post a WIP! = )

I had (I thought) pretty good luck with a combination of terrains and individual coins, although it was a painful process to create and arrange the individual coins. The terrains went in the background where they are hard to see to avoid having to create a billion coins, and were created by making a smooth terrain of the appropriate shape, then setting the paintbrush to be very hard and coin sized. Set the paintbrush level to dark, and click a bunch of dots all over the terrain to create the bottom level of coins. Make the level slightly lighter, and click again, but closer to the center. Repeat, adding less and less to each layer. You will end up with something like the attached pic, which is one of my coin piles. I'm sure there's a faster way to do it, but this worked for me.
