---Heh!---Check out the HIGH-END renders, WoW! Looks like it was done in Poser 3...! (Of course, she COULD be made and rendered in MAYA?- Since this is "Miss Digital World", Right?)ockham posted Wed, 08 December 2004 at 5:31 PM
Yup. It also seems strange that the winning artist was hired by the celebrity's husband. Presumably it wasn't against the rules, but doesn't strike me as a fair way of entering a contest aimed at encouraging the imagination.

Dam that is an ugly and stiff looking model. How could that win? Were there only 2 entries or what?
SnowSultan posted Wed, 08 December 2004 at 8:28 PM
Wow...I saw far more detailed and realistic entries on the main page when the contest was still running, including some famous renders that many of us had seen before. I cannot imagine that winning if the contest were judged by anyone with a 3D artistic background. After seeing this, the last few Miss Universe/Miss America pageants, and the SpikeTV Video Game Awards (LOL, that was positively VILE), it's quite hard for me to have much faith in contests anymore. : SnowS

Posette won? Bwahahahahaha! Sucks to be a detailed model.

Am I the only one who found this statement a bit odd? "Naked Miss World On A Catwalk Without A Sword!!!!!! " Any NVIATWAS from the galleries here would have been a more worthy contender than the one that won. The next one had better be judged by 3D artists and developers and not by fans of a real actress who perhaps had no idea what constitutes a realistic and well-made 3D female model. SnowS

ah ah ah it is hilarious, i needed a good laugh those days assumedly it was made by and for people in their own little sheltered world that has not a single polygon in common wih ours :) so they really have another referential after all damn, even some video games characters in cg look better, any square enix chara design, any Tecmo's DOA heroin, nearly anything even in real time render engine look better and for her, well, would they ever had seen a Anan or a Tenten (which both look like realistic asiate women, guess it) but they are in their own little world and in this alternative twilight zonen this is a winner :) even the promo pictures at curious lab site look better i cant stop laughing, even the few attempts years ago of "virtual idols/stars" were better and yet unmentionned...
Jaqui posted Wed, 08 December 2004 at 11:24 PM
nope Snow Sultan, she gotta have a sword for it to catch on. ~lmao~
SnowSultan posted Thu, 09 December 2004 at 12:04 AM
Jaqui, I agree that she should have a sword, it's Helgard who thinks she doesn't need one. :) Swords and temples for all! SnowS

OMG, looks like someone had fun playing with magnets in Poser 4. Have you seen the close ups of the face? First I thought Veritas is joking but after I saw the images ... if that isn't Posette then I have no clue.http://www.missdigitalworld.com/kattyko.html
Hm, I've looked at the other models that have entered the contest and look at Dalila, the hair she wears looks like a Koz hair prop. Same with Judith Pixelle (Koz Messy Hair) and the Design Kits are a download of DAZ Studio and a special V3 bundle in standard and pro version.
And what I find unbelievalble is that a fantasic model like Nivida's Dawn, modelled from scratch, obviously didn't win a thing.

Interesting. It seems as though it is in fact possible to have negative credibility. The Miss Digital World contest now does.

Posette still has some life in her then :) shame they picked something that most of us could have done on our first attempt after installing Poser for the first time.

"MDW Design Kits" sounds to me like "Vicky 3 with DAZ|Studio."Link is to the thread someone posted a couple of weeks ago, complaining about the voting in this contest.
Though people thought there was cheating going on, it might just be that this actress' fans all voted for her. Hordes of ordinary folk who don't know anything about 3D, and are just voting because of the celebrity name.

oh hell, its the attack of the v3 clones. Kinda like all those people passing off daz meshes as their own at gfx... I just read the last edition of Wired. Kattyko isnt even mentioned, but they have an article about Ms Digitial World where Kaya (Maya) Ilana(Maya) Mamegal (Max - Yay, made the cover of 3d world) Webbie (Maya) and Sophie Winters (Max) are all shown. I'd love to see some nekkid mesh... And Koz should charge hairdressing fees for MDW participation ;-) ~S

Wll, I have made a note to check for the competition next year. Seriously, it doesn't look too bad a deal for the artist, though it's not something with any big prizes. If you're in the business it could be good publicity. And I'm not su sure that the winner is quite as basic as some might infer from what's been said. Note that they want an animation of 60 to 90 seconds, which might be a bit more demanding that some of us could cope with. Daz 3D have set up a bundle with Vicky 3 and DAZ!Studio, which doesn't look too bad a deal. Yep, it's definitely worth keeping an eye on. Now, think about what you can do in 90 seconds of animation, and what it needs to do it well. Computer time, of course, but don't forget sound. Not just music, but the sounds of movement. Lip-sync for speech. Vicky or vixen, there's a lot of work needed. It does seem to be far more than a few Poser-pics. Frightening, isn't it, when you think about it.
AntoniaTiger posted Thu, 09 December 2004 at 4:40 PM
And then I find out what the author gets as a price. A gold bar worth $5000. (Steps sideways to avoid the stampede.) Oh, and one of the rules: the model cannot have appeared in a porn production. Sorry, Vicky, I think you're disqualified.
