I hope you've fully recovered. I've never recovered fully from a motorcycle accident 20 years ago. Got chronic back pain. Muscle relaxants (which I'm personally very familiar with) are often prescribed as sleeping pills and anit-anxiety medication too. I understand why you don't like'em. They make your brain all fuzzy. When people talk to you they think you're slow in the head.
