Follows the path for more en'light'enment :-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

If you change the lights map size Max limit to 2048 then you can use the dial to set the light map size to 2048. I hope that makes sense?

Zooming in the shadow lite cams can be a very effective alternative to large shadow maps. Dr. Geep, I think you have a tutorial on that topic too ;)

Thank you stewer, Yes, ... For those who might be interested ... ... there is a tut about Shadow Lite cameras [ HERE.](http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=1641181&Form.sess_id=4339977&Form.sess_key=1075478706) cheers, dr geep ;=]

By adjusting the angle start you could make it look like light is coming through a doorway, right?

Thank you so much doc

Jay7347 posted Mon, 20 December 2004 at 9:21 AM

Doc, I think I need more caffine for this and possibly some time to focus away from holiday/family stuff. This tut has got my mind spinning though. Being an ex-photographer who had almost 10K invested in studio lighting gear, (and I knew how to use it,) is it possible to build boxes that can simulate a "soft light" box? These are the kind of light that can be used in clusters to give a real complete fill for a subject. Its seen in a lot of commercials these days but was first shown, at least in my memory, by Robert Mapplethorpe in books like "Some Women." Anyway, this type of light has been kind of a holy grail for me to try to duplicate in CGI. I've got to take some time with your tut but duplicating a "soft light" box for me would be step forward in my work. -jay

geep posted Mon, 20 December 2004 at 11:39 AM

Hi Jay7347, Can you provide a detailed description of how a "soft-light" box operates? That is, what kind of light and from what direction? And, ... I see what I can do. ;=] cheers, dr geep ;=]
