Happy Christmas to all ! ...Next time, I promise I'll try some funnier one, as maybe "The Song of the Horsehair Mattresses's Merchants", or more seriously_ Because that one's gonna be very hard to get that long wonderful poem translated into english (slang in it..): the "Attempt of a Description of a Heads' Diner at Paris-France", written by the poet Jacques Prert,I think.) (French title: L'absence) _A french Song's translation._French words: Jean-Loup Dabadie, sung by french Interpreter-Singer Serge Reggiani. Translated by me, from french to English. (as I could, and...sorry, well, if it's only in prose !!!). ABSENCE Its some window-shutter, that slowly moves, Its some light wrench On the bed-sheet, where you once let your arm laying , Long ago, while downstairs, the street is talking Alone. Down there, someone is selling mandarins A woman dressed in marine-blue Is taking her god-child little girl for a walk. Absence, here it is... Absence, Of a child, of the Loved One Absence is the same, When once you said I love you One day The Silence is the same. It s a day thats breaking Its a poetry too, Where the doves flew by On a night of jealousy A book s open You had touched this page, You had cracked this wine-glass Back from your long journey, The only thing thats left Is your package. Absence, here it is... Absence, Of a child, of the Loved One Absence is the same; When once you said I love you One day The Silence is the same. Its some window-shutter, that slowly moves, Its this cross on that diary, Marking an ancient date When we had polite words, were very smart in fact, These vases are empty Where we used to put flowers-bunches And the mirrors taking some wrinkles Where the Pasts on the look-out. I can hear a foot-step... Absence, here it is... Absence, Of a child, of the Loved One Absence is the same; When once you said I love you One day The Silence is the same. _______________ Thanks for reading. I tried my best. ...As for me, I'll have a nice Christmas with my three cats, and it's good enough for me.
