I am currently rendering a large animation via a Batch render. I would like to take advantage of the new update (4.0.1) which boasts a slow rendering fix. If I update to 4.0.1, will it wipe out my current Batch render? Chuck

I hadn't updated so I did a quick test, setting up a short animation, paused the batch render and then installed the update. My render was still there afterwards and resumed ok. I won't be held responsible if it doesn't work for you :-) but it did work for me. I don't know where details are saved for batch renders but you might make a copy of your Preferences file before updating as a precaution. Mark

Thank you Mark! I am rendering in sequenced frames, so if I do lose the batch, I will still have the rendered frames, so no worry. ;-) I'll be anxious to see just how much improved the speed actually is. Thanks again for your help! Chuck

I have a silly question: How does Batch Rendering work? I've never used it before.....

Batch Rendering is very useful. You don't need to load a file into C, simply switch to the Render room and select the Batch Queue button. Press Add to add a file to the list; you can add only one file if you want, alter render settings if you wish and then press Launch. You can now Pause the render at any time, close C (even switch off your computer) and resume later. This is particularly useful if you are rendering a large scene file or a long animation. Added to which, in my experience Batch rendering is more stable than straight rendering. Mark

I have had some problems with this feature in C3 with discontinuities in the image when restarting renders. Has anyone else had these problems? I have not tested it in C4.
