i think this sounds like somthing perfect for a "catsuit". well, more like a skinsuit. like the daz ones that are basically a subset of the figure's mesh. i think a real catsuit would still be a great piece of clothing (one with wrinkles, seams, spandex covered breasts, etc.) but it would be great if the figure could ship with some sort of 2nd skin that wouldn't have any other morphs or material zones. as simple as possible, just something to make it easier to make 2nd skin clothing and hair. my main request, either with the skinsuit or catsuit, would be a head cover that works as a full mask (eyes covered, ears, nose covered, mouth covered, etc.)

She's looking really good so far, I especially like the shape of her fingernails, they look a lot more like they should, the natural curve. Also i like the shape of her hip bone. The make up layering is a great idea (i am used to that in a sort of way, as the sims in sims 2 have a similar thing of layering on the face). I am looking forward to seeing more of this new character. She looks most promising indeed. I can't imagine the amount of work that must go into that. -S-

kobaltkween posted Thu, 30 December 2004 at 9:00 AM
she is very beautifull so far. i love her hands and those fingernails. and a realistic catsuit would be absolutely lovely. just to ask, as this came up in the daz forums, if she has a stretch legs or arms morph, would it be possible to include this morph in the outfit? someone requested this, and someone else replied that it wasn't possible in clothing (which didn't make sense to me, but i don't make clothes, so i don't know how they're different from 3d people). this figure is going to be incredible. her texturing possibilities are going to be downright progressive. and i've got to second chuck- this is both exciting and educational to watch.
Giana posted Thu, 30 December 2004 at 10:33 AM
i love her hands!! wonderful proportioning, and something that has always bugged me about the Mil characters [size & shape of hands and feet] also very much like the make-up idea... i asked Daz about the possibility of doing layering or something for the body on future models in regards to being about to apply tattoos at will via transmapping instead of having to muck with a texture within a graphics editor each time, but i never heard back from them [then again, i never really expected to...heh] sooo looking forward to seeing more of your progress on her :))

hi everyone! Giana, What a wonderful idea! What i will do is add a second layer to her body but her hands and feet and up to the neck, and i can put in materail zones in those sections so people can add different tattoos or whatever to those sections. It will be sort of like a second skin/catsuit. But I will be creating a realistic catsuit for her. Starkdog: I use 3d studio max 5.1 with brazil r/s 1.2. I'v been working on her now for 7 months. Modeling for a few months now. She's far from over though I hope to have her completely modeled by the end of next week. Then it will be the big task of uvmapping, and uvmapping with layers is very hard. Stark the planning process is the first step, 2 creating new ideas that others haven't done before. Like Kamira's layers. Think of the customer and how they want to customise you're model. Mathman: I totally agree with u. Unforantly i won't really know if she will have noodle arms :O I hope she doesn't have any. But i am glad u did say something though about it. it helps me to make kaimira better. So many idea's people have requested and useful information has been such a great help. Cobalt: using morphs to make the limbs longer all though i haven't tested that theory I am willing to try. I did model her arms and legs a bit longer then the orginal V3's stubby old legs. She does stand alot taller then V3 and M3 for that matter heh. My models are a bit bigger then daz models. but not overly though. Monday Night I will be posting more goodies for everyone. I thought of a few things when i was creating Kaimira. 1. To make her the most customizable 3D Figure in the 3D world. "a girl can Dream" ;) Wink. 2. try to be more realistic and add more options. 3. Doing the things I wish other models didn't have or options. :) I hope u like it so far, and i wanted to thank everyone who followed from the start. I always value everyone's input and guidenace. :D Cheers my dears... Sera

Sera, thanks for all of your hard work :) She looks amazing so far :) Can't wait ...... some questions : (1) do you plan to have some male morphs for her ? (2) will her UVMaps be compatible with the DAZ characters ? regards, Andrew
PapaBlueMarlin posted Thu, 30 December 2004 at 10:21 PM
Mathman, I doubt she will be compatible with DAZ maps. This has been discussed in previous threads. Sera, she's looking great. I just can't believe how quickly this model has moved along. I think all the layering will make her more compatible with P5. All this progress makes me wish that figures like Neftis' Elle and Anton's Maximus would receive more attention. What is the file size and have you loaded her in Poser yet?
rasputina posted Thu, 30 December 2004 at 10:35 PM
That is wicked though to pull down the lip to see a labret backing and as Xena says all the different sorts...could you imagine a nice scrumper in there! I'm impressed by the hands and the more natural look to the nails with the curves, they look manicured and shaped as opposed to just jutting out straight and looking sort of warped. Also keen on the pronounced ear detailing, especially the tragus area. WOW!
Seraphira posted Sat, 01 January 2005 at 5:22 PM
Hi Math, There's a few reasons why I won't use V3 or Daz Mapping is because well umm unfortantly not advanced enough, second copyright infridgement, three there's more areas and sections that needed to be mapped. With the new layering system v3's and other maps won't be able support it. Not to mention a new key feature will be introduced a complete and acturate vein system for Kaimira. About the male morphs no male ones but there will be a flat chest morph, but a person could make a male with the 100's of morphs being planed. The plans are the works for a male Model version comming this year. Papa: Hey honey it's great to see u! how are u? Papa ur right about the daz maps. :) I'v been hauling buns, I would have been done sooner, but u know me i am a professionist. I never baught elle and maximus. I have seen elle before, the thing i think people crave is to personalise their models from the basics to the most extreme. The Model size and etc in poser is still not known. She never even seen poser yet but That won't be for a while though, after when she's modeled it's the daunting task of creating material zones and uvmapping for Kai.but the 3D max scene file is 9.13 megs. There's several factors, now we're dealing with a new set of issues ever before then what V3 or other models had before. We have to deal with sizing of different areas, how it will effect the maps "example: V3's face and body Maps", inside of the mouth matching the outside. to reduce seam lines and scretching as much as possible. Raputina: there also will be more options for the nails like different nail types and tips. like rounded, claw like, pointed, oval, square, natural, bitten, long, curve nail, deform nail bed. these are just the few options u can do alone with the nails. I wanted her lips and mouth area to have more to them more options pulling and tugging and other movements of the mouth. Anything that can be done with the mouth will be put in. U will be able to edit more options for the ears, if users want to create plugs you can edit and resise those areas to catter to those needs. Customisation is the most important thing about kaimira.if u have an idea or thought u want to see for customization let me know. :D Sera Watch monday as i update with more goodies! :D
PapaBlueMarlin posted Sat, 01 January 2005 at 11:18 PM
Hi Sera, I'm doing ok. Neftis' Elle is from polymage. She seems to be designed as a standalone character rather than something that can be stretched further (she has no body morphs). Anton's Maximus character was never released because he had wanted to make it compatible with features in DAZ|Studio. The figure creation was discussed in the following threads: http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12413&Form.ShowMessage=1616522 http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12413&Form.ShowMessage=1638858 http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12413&Form.ShowMessage=1687433 http://www.renderosity.com/messages.ez?ForumID=12413&Form.ShowMessage=1701404 I get much more excited about these 3rd party figures that I ever do about anything coming out of DAZ anymore. I think some people are getting tired of the unimesh shoulders and derivative figures. Quite honestly, I think Kaimira is going to blow Vicki right out of the water. Keep up the excellent work :)
Seraphira posted Sun, 02 January 2005 at 2:05 AM
hi Papa, that's what i wanted to do is blow vicki right out of the water, with a-bomb ;) :D I am working on quite a few projects, I am doing the planning for my future male figure to match Kaimira. Kai needs a boyfriend u know. hehe. projects: 1.I'v been working on the sims 2 website, 3dsims.com my sim site. 2. Kaimira project. 3. Dorian Project. 4. Kaimira Clothing Packs 1-through-4, eyeliner packs, eyeshadow packs, blush packs, lipstick and lip liner packs, hair sets. Getting the planning process done. Dorian is still on paper, but will start in the new year. Speaking of shoulders, Kai's still need to be added more detail and making sure no noodle arms.
HandspanStudios posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 8:03 AM
Really great but I think maybe the upper shoulders are too wide. Women's shoulders look rounded/sloped down a little because of the muscle structure there, it's tricky but it would make so much difference to how feminine and young the figure can look. Also that's the kind of thing it's tough to change with a morph.

Hey - this is great work. Couple of things....would be good to know how many vertices in the model. Is it a similar density to V3? If so - you could probably put a heap more detail (lumps and bumps) into her - particularly in her rib and upper chest (traps) areas. Also, her breast - they look very similar to V3's. I've never seen breasts that shape (mainly where the lower breast meets the ribcage). Excellent work - keep going.

Poor Sera (smile). Some many (personal) preferences and so little time. For example, I like long necks. But on to Arty's interesting photo (and comments). NOW, bear in mind I'm no way a figure artist. But, I wonder if one shouldn't review a LOT of full-length shots before deciding on proportions. I mean, women/females come in all sorts of proportions and sizes (even though they may all be slender). It might be useful to fetch a few images (if possible) of female models (since I suspect that type of look is a good percentage of what Kai is targeted to mimic...morphs notwithstanding) and make additional proportion comparisons.

"...and make additional proportion comparisons."No need for that. Others have already done it and ArtyMotion is perfectly right.
AVERAGE size for a women is betwen six to seven heads lenghts. (See link)
Eight head lenghts size is for fashion models (or comic book Superheroes).
So Vickys proportions out of the box are maybe not downright impossible, but definitly way beyond average.
(To be honest, once you notice it, she looks pretty ridicoulus) :-)
So I usually adjust my characters heads to 104-110 percent (In addition to other changes) to make them look more like human beeings.

ChuckEvans posted Thu, 06 January 2005 at 10:16 AM
Well, if I can post a quote from the link you provided: "In reality, most people are about 7 1/2 head lengths, or even 6 1/2 head lengths. But this just doesn't look "right" when drawn on paper. So, it is acceptable (and strongly encouraged) to heighten the figure a bit. 8 head lengths is the recommended standard for figure drawings (or even 8 1/2 heads, if the person is very tall and "heroic")." So, your paraphrasing is "skewed" a bit from the info you posted (unless I missed it or was supposed to delve further into the site you provided). I think a key piece of information is that figures drawn on paper at the correct number of heads just doesn't look right and, therefore, the author recommends using 8 heads instead. BTW, I did a search on that page for "fashion" and didn't get a hit, so not sure where you based your comment, "Eight head lenghts size is for fashion models" from. Again...perhaps I was supposed to scour the whole website.
ArtyMotion posted Thu, 06 January 2005 at 10:18 AM
A good compromise solution, since it affects the head and neck somewhat, is to provide a morph dial that will increase head size and shorten neck without resorting to rescaling, which makes things look funky at the joints.

The poser figures so far have all been the classical greek ideal proportions (8 heads high) for someone to be eight head heights high they would be between 7 and eight feet tall. You could still make the figure 7 and a half head heights tall and make it the same height as the other figures so that props and vehicles etc can still work with the figure.

Who is the Gorgious woman in the Photograph?
Chas posted Fri, 07 January 2005 at 9:18 PM
Catsuit: I wonder if it would be more feasible to do this with morphs and textures on the basic figure? Catsuits are supposed to fit tightly, even with some visible skin compression where the catsuit ends. As for folds, etc, morphs along the variety of Traveler's old "no ears" "no navel" "smooth chest" come to mind. I'm tired of seeing stockings that "float" above the skin. :D And judging from the movement and folds for your Sleeveless Top, I'm certain that you're more than capable of it. Rounded shoulders: Please include a morph to restore these to squarer proportions if desired -- one of the most attractive things a woman can have is proud shoulders! Or maybe it's just me.... :) Height: Women tend to be shorter in the abdominal region than men, such that you could probably improve the heads ratio by shortening her torso a bit. The model in the photograph may even be a wee bit longer in the torso than typical. All in all, I like what I'm seeing. There is obviously already an incredible amount of work and detail put into this. bookmark

referring back to the number of head issue - can i request scaling morphs? especially for head, neck, torso and hand dimensions? in terms of the v3/m3 angle... first of all, the base mesh is free. not the whole thing. the head and body morphs are still a non-trivally priced add-on. second, most everybody has these items. that's why they did this. the people that don't are a small enough group that they're worth giving the base to so that more people will buy the accessories. just like the customers who bought the bases are worth giving vouchers to so that they can buy stuff they probably wouldn't have (my bet is most go over in trying to use all of the vouchers). personally, i had just spent $20 i wouldn't have to use the $10 voucher with the $5 pc one. and so that customers remain (relatively) happy. but that's daz. it's interesting - people are now debating over why other models haven't surplanted vicky. and they keep harping on looks. saying that dina didn't make it cause she was ugly, and somehow ignoring elle's lack of popularity (not my cup of tea, but definitely not ugly). solondra III/carla looks great, and so does ej. i think they're wrong. it think it's the versatility issue. even girl hasn't come close to taking her on. no one ever showed dina looking like anything other than her initial look. a lot of people really didn't like that look, but i think it was more important that she didn't get photoreal characters made for her like silent smile (http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=32566). or the ones by vali, or by dalinese or by morris. anime doll seems to have been one of the most long term succesful "independent" characters, and i'd say that's because anime is so inherently stylized that a different kind of versatility is needed. and that versatility is shown in the previews (mainly different eye styles, some ear morphs, etc.) i'd say that a3 actually has less anime versatility than her. i think kaimiria really stands a chance of seriously competing with v3 for several reasons. 1) Kaimiria is being built with the artist in mind. Her versatility in several areas will exceed V3's. 2) Seraphira's currently sold clothes are absolutely excellent and were released to popular appeal. The wardrobe support will be there without question. 3) She'll have different hair styles that will appeal to various people (see previous thread). 4) Seraphira's responsiveness to requests and visibly professional and frequent customer support show that the character won't languish like so many others (mill yt, freak, she freak, etc.). Thrown in some photoreal textures by different artists, and I think that would cinch it. And the big thing will be for us early adopters to come up with prominently labled renders that show not only how beautiful she is, but how versatile. And (possibly?) how you don't need Blackhearted to make a petite character for her or Dodger to make a muscular, towering amazon. Or Arduino to step in to make her anatomically correct (even if that type of render isn't welcome here). i really personally want to be able to do different ethnicities well, too. like masai, north west african, thai, mexican, mayan, etc. her nose and lipps actually seem like much better starting places than the unimesh features - one of the main reasons i've been interested in her from the start. when i showed my boyfriend her face in that first thread, he said, "wow, tell me when that's done." mind you, he's absolutely hated every other character so far (i've shown him everybody and multiple v3 characters).

Hi sweethearts, WOW cobalt, Sweety you're making me blush ^_^. Sweety you're totally right. I think it's very important to make her versatile as possible. People love to create their own custom look and not be restricted by out of the box look and restrictions. To be quite honest, with out you people kaimira wouldn't exist, you gave me ideas and inspriation when i needed it the most. Even when things looked so bleak i almost gave up. you all never gave up on me, and that made me push forward, despite my trails. Cobalt, to you're answers about scaling, there will be features to change hand, feet, neck, and head sizes. :) With Kai she is anatomically correct and she also has an anus. :) She has everything as a real human does and more. Users can get techsupport on www.seraphira.com/forum/ for product help. :) Tell you're boyfriend, she's getting closer to a release. :) I hope he's tickled pink. ;) Cheers my dears, watch product showcase forum for the UVmapping and material zones! :D

I have to agree with cobalt. I might "tweak" the argument a bit but, the argument is well enough in agreement with me that it doesn't matter. So, I'm cheering for Kai as well. (besides, wink, even the model's name is better!!)

We have not been poser users for a long time. I never liked the predictability of the Daz' figures (we did buy characters that were as far off from the standard as possible, prefereably with artist's own morphs). But, up to now, there was no other choice really. By coincidence I found your name (we like the clothes you created) associated with a new character. Luckily I saw your uploaded work, and it looks like this will be it. A few remarks, if permitted, and not meant as critique, far from that: 1/ The shoulder joint looks better. It is an incredible difficult morphing zone -all muscles except for where the clavicle joints the sternum- but what will it do with arm raised, arm backwards (scapulae) etc etc? Here you can win an important battle. 2/ Being a painter, I love the anatomical proportions prof. Richer taught. It would be great if there were some way to get real body-proportions instead of simply enlarging the head, but not the length of the legs etc etc. 3/ Eyes cannot be realistic unless there is a lens fixed to the eyeball and an upper eyelid that deforms where the lens bulges. I don't know whether this would be possible... 4/ Another battle you can win is the mouth. 5/ Thinking about the future and more versatility towards other progs: did you consider creating a version with a better joints' system than Poser's (ClaudeBonet maps, softbody,...)? Future versons of Poser will certainly move in that direction also. These are not questions for you to answer. Just some thoughts that enter my mind. If this character keeps on evolving like it is now, count us in.

Me again. Looking closely at the mesh, I have the impression that the calves are too high. There is an alternating rhythm in a body, and more in women than in men. If you permit, I can download your image and draw on it to explain what I mean.

And another one: very important would be the ability to widen the pelvis.

I was thinking the same thing... that the thickest part of the calf muscle was too high. While I'm commenting, does anyone else think her back is bowed in too much between shoulderblade and behind? She almost looks sway-backed, to me at least.

Hi there, Aeneas: Unfortantly no model is perfect, but I tried my best as i could with kaimira. I modeled her after my drawings and some photo resources. Kaimira is my artistic impresion of a female, although some things are off on the model, which can be corrected easily with morphs. I did some modifications such as the head and legs as it would have effect posing issues. There will tons of morphs to change every little part of kaimira, including pelvis and with tons of fine tuneing morphs for those little area's that u might dislike. As i said in previous posts after this stage of modeling process joing to the two halfs together it would be difficult to make changes. :) I am glad for you're thoughts Aeneas and Tilandra, I am pretty open to comments or concerns. But I do see what you mean with the rhythm. :) Take care my dears, if you have anymore questions or comments please let me know I'm always here to help. :D Cheers Seraphira

ChuckEvans posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 9:20 AM

hi guys and girls. :D It's been a few days, but she's all cut into the body parts that she needs. Now I am off to do the UVmapping. I was confused on what to do first uvmapping or starting to work on her cr2. So i thought it would be best if i work on her UVmap and I will be able to fine tune the material zones and MLS options on kai. I will post a new thread sometime tommrow to show the uvmap progress. :D Cheers my dears. Sera

Seraphira posted Sun, 16 January 2005 at 3:12 PM
lol I hope not hehe. She's Due out in the middle of March. :D I will hauling ass on her from now on since some of my family problems are resloved. :D
ChuckEvans posted Sun, 16 January 2005 at 7:46 PM
Well, on the 10th, you said it had been 7 months (3 modeling and 4 planning). Add 2 more for the MIddle of March and Kai has the normal 9 month gestation period (wink).

I've never seen anyone model so fast and yet so well as you, not to mention how you take others' advice so seriously and work to implement them into your model. If there will ever be a figure that can please everyone, this could be it. ;) If the time comes when you need seam guides, please let me know. :) I definitely would like to make them in order to help boost support for a figure with so much customization. Keep up the good work! SnowS
