Howdy! I'm illustrating a book this weekend and I really need an old-fashioned safe suitable for a bank in a Wild West town. I searched the Marketplace and Free Stuff and did not find anything suitable. And, I don't have time to make anything. Can someone tell me where to find one for purchase, or if you have one can you "loan" it to me for this project? i'll even mention you in the art credits at the end of the book. I appreciate all help i can get, and I'm using Poser 5. Thanks!

This has the closest one I've been able to find.

Thanks for the link! It's close, but not quite what I need. Nevertheless, I have added it to my Wishlist so I can use it if I can't find anything better. Thanks again!

mmitchell_houston, I have a full bank interior in my freebies at 3D Commune... it includes, teller cages, gold bars, money bags, velvet rope dividers, and wall safe that opens/closes. If you're looking for a different type of safe (reference pictures are ALWAYS a good idea :-) let me know what your timeframe is & I can throw something together later in the week.

"Old-fashioned" suggests to me a free-standing safe with a key lock. There's a lot of other detail cues, but something like that would have a lot of applications. Small ones might be found in a lot of offices, all around the world, while a bank would have something a bit bigger. If there's something like this as a freebie, somewhere, I'd grab it myself.

Cooler -- I couldn't find the TOS for your freebies at 3D Commune. Is the bank cleared for use in a commercial project? I just downloaded everything and am pretty sure I can use most of the props there (especially the teller cages and money bags). AntoniaTiger -- You're right, I should have provided reference photos. I will definitely do that next time ;-) I'll try these models tonight (also downloaded the sys safe) and I'm getting some help from the kind folks over at RuntimeDNA. If they get something for me I'll post the link here. Thanks!

Some of the detail can be quickly added by a Poser 5 displacement map. That plate on the door, for instance.

And I think "claw feet" would be easier to do than wheels.

mmitchell_houston all of my freebies are useable in any sort of art project, commercial or recreational, without restriction. In fact other than the standard, "do not redistribute or I'll hurt you" clause there are no other hoops to jump through. :-)

here you go... I'll get it into the bank set eventually but if you want a copy sooner drop me an email at coolerbear@att.net & I'll ship it over cr2 105K zipped door open/closes, handle & dial turn.

This is awesome! My deadline has passed for this part of the project, but I will be returning to it VERY soon to update some of the artwork and this will be a perfect addition to the scene. The dial turns? Cool!

I just have to thank Elle of Odd Ditty Foundry for coming through in a pinch this past weekend. She created a perfect Wild West safe for my project. I'm putting the finishing touches on the image I rendered and will post the results soon (gotta finish the typesetting and illustration chores before I can get back to posting images here). Thanks to EVERYONE, especially COOLER, for helping me in my time of need.

A quick Google brought up the date 1862 for Yale inventing the modern combination lock. As long as groups/materials let you make the combination locc dial invisible, it wouldn't be hard to smartprop a key mechanism in its place.
