Hi all, I'm experiencing some troubles with the way Carrara renders bump, these times . I'm using Deep Paint to make a texture for my demon model . But when rendered in Carrara, the texture looks weird, as you can see . Carrara has a lot of weaknesses with bump, so it's not surprising . But maybe my settings are not optimized ... and maybe some of you have suggestions to enhance the quality of the render ? Even if i don't believe in Santa Claus on this one, all tips, tricks, trips or ticks are welcome ! Happy Christmas ! litst

I've found that where the normals of a surface coincide with the direction of incident light, bump shadows don't show up at all. From your image, it looks like the Deep Paint 3D render includes some diffuse light. You might get better results in Carrara with multiple light sources, so that bump shadows are always present, or with AnythingGlows lights simulating a soft light. SMcQ

You were right Steven, i've placed the lights in relation to the surface normals and i can now get a decent bump quality . I'll try to use Eric's free lights to simulate diffuse lights . I was that close to give up the project ! Thanks again !!! :) litst
