Does anyone know why there is a security encryption preventing me from turning a screenshot of the GUI into a nice tutorial? That could be the only reason I ca'nt get data, from it, onto my clipboard...

Copyright maybe?

Bobbie_Boucher posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 3:10 PM

I've made thousands of Poser screenshots with no problem. Many of us use different programs or methods to accomplish screenshots. How do you make yours?

Angelouscuitry posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 3:14 PM

My keyboard. I wish the document copied right! = )

randym77 posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 3:31 PM

What's wrong with it?

Use SnagIt. I use that here at work. There's a try it version.

"My Keyboard?!" Ok, so what keystrokes did you hit? What are you trying to capture? Some people use the Print Screen key, but that's always been awkward for me, and I don't always get what I want. You're talking about copying a document? Give us more details and we can help you better. Or try SnagIt. I use Corel Capture 8, from an old version of Corel Draw. But not too many people are going to buy Corel Draw just to capture screens.

I do screenshots (using PrintScreen and Alt-Printscreen) all the time and copy back into PSP. Never had a problem.

You might want to read this comparison of SnagIt vs PrintScreen. It typifies my own experience. In addition, I have far more control with Corel Capture, including auto renaming, and a host of other features.

I like irfan myself. It has a great screen capture utility and it can do some other graphics functions as well. It's available at a lot of places for download, including C-Net. Hope this helps, Cres

I use ScreenHunter from Wisdom-soft because: -it is completely free -it has a timer you can set to get screen-grabs which are hard to do using hot-keys

randym77 posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 4:32 PM

I don't understand why Print Screen doesn't work. Yes, all these screen capture utilities are nice, but they shouldn't be necessary to capture Poser screens.

Is it possible that you have DRM software installed that prevents you from using the Windows clipboard? Some sites, such as WireImage, required such software to be installed, or you cannot view their images. It's a right pain, since it disables the clipboard completely.

Or are you using a Mac?

kuroyume0161 posted Mon, 03 January 2005 at 7:35 PM

If a software disabled my clipboard completely (and I use it more than I drink coffee!!! (I drink coffee from morning til bedtime)), I'd be seeking litigation for loss of revenue unless they BOLDLY and UPFRONT state that such a thing will occur PRIOR to installing the software. That is some nerve disabling base OS functionality for their own security.

They tell you upfront. And the software is easily removed.

I just took a quick look at WireImage, and saw nothing about special software or changing anything on your computer. So obviously there is no "upfront information" about such issues. I'm not about to joing for fear that they actually do have some hidden surprises in store. "Browsers To optimize your experience with WireImage.com, we recommend you use the latest version of Internet Explorer (5.0 or higher for both PC and Mac) or Netscape (6.0 for both PC and Mac). "FTP Software Photographers uploading images to WireImage.com may want to use FTP Voyager (PC), Interarchy (Mac), or Fetch (Mac)."

I always use PSP's screen capture facility. Whole screen, window, click'n'drag area, with or without cursor showing, choice of hotkey etc and, of course, it opens immediately in PSP itself, ready for editing.

randym77 posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 1:05 PM

WireImage may have changed their policy since I was a member. You didn't have to download the software and install it unless you subscribed. That is, paid money. Non-subscribers can't see anything but little thumbnails anyway.

When I select Adobe Acrobat's Text Select Tool, highlight text in the P5 Referance Guide, and then Right Click on the selection, the Copy command is greyed out and not accesable. Selcting with Ctrl.-C is also not an option. I was'nt trying to copy the images, with my Print Screen key, I'm tryig to get the text into a Digital Voice(Text Aloud MP3.) So when you clcik on an a slice of the screenshot you hear what it is! = )

Ah geesh, your original message didn't tell us that. I'll consult a friend of mine who uses screen readers, and see if he can come up with something. (He can't see, so he doesn't use Poser, but he may know what you need.)

In the meantime, take a closer look at SnagIt. This may indeed provide what you need. Message edited on: 01/04/2005 13:40

I have SnagIt around here somewhere, it's real nice for videos! What I think I would use is a program that can define text from a scan of a book page, but I do'nt know of a really nifty one off hand? Sorry for the confusion! = )

The reason for this is because it's copyrighted material. So if you want to digitize the text in a text-to-speech program you'll have to type it in manually.

Not really, the 15MB High Resolution Print version(Freely available from curiouslabs.com) workes fine, actually, thank all! = )

Bobbie_Boucher posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 8:39 PM

Wow, this whole situation has changed so dramatically from the way it was originally presented. You just wanted to get the manual into a screen reader?!
