I'm in the process of retooling my website and have been creating some navigational images for it. I had almost finished this one when I hit a major roadblock...I had no idea how to go about doing the "y" in "Gallery"!! I came up with some rather wonky-looking attempts, but nothing that I was really happy with and that fit in stylistically with the already completed letters. I'm going for a sort of "Art-Nouveau-meets-retro" type of style and I'm at a loss here. If anyone could work up something or scribble something down and post it here, I'd be very grateful.

If anyone would like to get their hands on the original PSD (PS version 5.5), you can find it here.

I've attached a flattened GIF version to illustrate my progress thus far.

P.S. To get the PSD to look like the flattened GIF, just run a "Fill Path" on the "New Path" using the darker color sample (the layer effects should take care of the rest). Also, the path I'm working with is "New Path". (The "a" in "Old Path" was a bit too heavy-handed for my tastes.
