Sorry it took so long to get back here... busy first days of the new year. I don't believe that I've ever chosen a topic for this forum's challenges, so I hope I don't disappoint... but here it goes: January's topic is... RESOLUTION ... an abstract subject which is open to the interpretation of the artist... (and fitting for the new year, I believe)... as an aid, here are a very few definitions of the word: resolution 1. The subsiding or termination of an abnormal condition, such as a fever or an inflammation. 2. The trait of being resolute; firmness of purpose 3. The fineness of detail that can be distinguished in an image, as on a video display terminal. 4. A decision to do something or to behave in a certain manner Any software may be used... 2D or 3D... post-work, imports, etc. all are allowed. Any questions?... comments?... dirty words?...

Title : Lo resolution. (as in definition 3) A simple idea, but I couldn't get it out my mind (something else that's simple)

nice... I was afraid someone would submit something at around 8000 x 6000 pixels.... ;o) and my apologies for not giving proper credit to tresamie... congrats on the tie... you had my vote... :o)

Thanks, FWTempest, I loved your 'comfort zone'! This looks like a great idea!

this looks like an image at the edge of usable information and so it is imprecise - is this Jupiter (as the spot might suggest?) or is it Saturn? (Remember Saturn Girl from the Legion of SuperHeroes?)

The resolute nature of life in the midst of the bleakest winter...? I don't know. This is what came to mind.

By the way, I don't take any credit for the elements in the graphic...it is more of a collage than anything else. I love the range of interpretations possible in a challenge like this. Thank you for suggesting it!

dialyn... doesn't look like many are agreeing with you one this one ;o) I've got an idea in my head... I just hope that I'll have time to get it completed... nice entries so far. :o)

Well worth waiting for! I am, yet again, going to have a hard time choosing. :)

Congratualations to all the participants. I'm sorry more people didn't join in but I enjoyed the ones that did. :) 1 FWTempest 2 tresamie 3 nghayward Very close, in my mind. I would have liked to voted for all of them. :)

Don't be disheartened...some months are like that. It was an interesting challenge ... no fault of yours that more people didn't turn out.

tresamie posted Tue, 01 February 2005 at 1:47 PM

This was a fun challenge! The only thing that seems to help to get a large turnout is to go to every forum and challenge the members to defend their chosen software, LOL! It was hard to make choices again, but here are mine: 1 dialyn (3 points) 2 FWTempest (2 points) 3 invidiosa (1 point)

Fractals will always amaze me!

I wish there was an easier way to post on the forums other than posting to each one separately. I bet Lillian would announce the challenge in the newsletter if Rimrunner asked her sweetly. :) I don't know if that would help or not.

RimRunner posted Sun, 06 February 2005 at 8:50 AM

First off, so very sorry for being so far behind. Been one heck of a week. Since we'll be getting a late start on this, we'll go from the 15th to the 25th of March. That will give you a couple extra days to work on things. :) So... now there is the matter of who actually gets to pick this... and here we go. 3rd Place - with 2 points: invidiosa 2nd place - tied with 3 points: Tresamie nghayward And... tied for 1st place, with 8 points each: FWTempest dialyn Now... since we have a tie once again... we have a few options on how to handle this: Do two challenges. Both collaborate on the theme. Or I just pick one or the other to be the winner. Myself, I like the collaboration. :) Thoughts?

That's a very nice way to start the day. Thank you so much, everyone. I'm sorry more people didn't participate, but I really appreciate the good company I'm in. :)

FWTempest posted Sun, 06 February 2005 at 9:52 AM

I agree with dialyn... and defer to her for choosing next month's theme, since I chose this past month... and, I may be too busy with reality to participate in the coming weeks, though I intend to try.
