This is turning into a sad year and it has barely started. Will Eisner died after quadruple heart bypass surgery on the 3rd. His comics are legendary, but what is perhaps more important is how he thought about "sequential art" and his books about comic creation. We who are storytellers and animators will especially miss his unique vision. ***** "His later works were reviewed by the New York Review of Books, which once noted that with Mr. Eisner, "the comics medium becomes something naturalistic, wry, introspective, and literate -- that is, in the comics universe, something truly otherworldly." Damn! I was a student of his for 3 years at SVA in NY in the '80's. A great influence who always pushed me to work harder! He started the careers of many artists. We all owe alot to him.

I hate to admit it, but I've never read a Will Eisner comic. Nevertheless, I'm aware of his contributions to the field of graphic novels. He will be sorely missed.
