That's the same version I have... the blurb on the webpage says 2.1, but the download link is for 2.0

Haven't used the software myself. That link is directly to the creator's site. Perhaps there really isn't a 2.1.

2.1 exists. Maybe contact Roy Riggs about the difference?

I'll send him a message and see what's up...

EDIT< Just sent a email to the address on the "about" you posted...

He is a programmer here. His user name is fur, hasn't logged in in a month or so, though.

His email bounced back undeliverable.. it looks like posemation lite had 2.1 bundled in with it, but there's no longer a download link for that either.

I am in for using Phi Builder. I downloaded the file. Looks pretty straight forward. Any tutorials on this program?

Pony10 posted Sat, 08 January 2005 at 8:45 PM

The forge has Poseamation but I can't find anything about Phi Builder being with it anymore.

Can someone please explain why I would want to use a PHI builder (or any PHI at all) in Poser 4+? I never understood it myself, since Poser has all of the tools already.

Stormrage posted Sat, 08 January 2005 at 11:41 PM

Phi builder helps you make the heirarchy for a prop or figure. It's really handy for doing posable props.

Ajax posted Sat, 08 January 2005 at 11:53 PM

A lot of us find that PHI builder is faster and easier than the set-up room and also gives better results, so we'll stick with it until CL turns the set up room into something that works better than the old PHI method does.

But that's my point, the second easiest part of figure creation is the drag-drop in the hierarchy window. (second to clicking the "Create New Figure" button)

Does PHI builder somehow eliminate the need to figure Rotation Orders or something? (the only part I really dislike)

I admit I've never used it, but from the available reading material on PHIs they were only useful through Poser 3.

Ah, vs Setup Room. One of those many aspects of Poser 5 I haven't bothered to look into.
I only use 4, and keep 5 on hand for compatability testing. It's too slow and buggy for anything else IMO.

Actually looniper i prefer to have more control when I create a posable prop. Phi's are very helpful even now. Basically it's a to each his own kinda thing. You may like the setup room. I prefer hands on dealing with a phi and tweaking later.

Okay, been playing with PHI builder and I do see a benifit. It skips the need to edit the CR2 to use external geometry. But otherwise it is almost identical to the Hierarchy Window inside of Poser. It would be nice if it had an option to set the standard Rotation Orders and hierarchies though. hmm.. maybe I'll make one that does that. :)

OK, I have 2.0. What's the 2.1 fixing? If anyone finds the link for the updated version, let us know.
