I am in heavy time trials right now in
pre-production of a an animation project -- and every second counts.
As posted in other threads, I am fairly
certain I will be utilizing Poser5Woman with Eternal Judy
morphs, as opposed to Vickie. Without
further comment and no judgement, just the facts, here is the result
of 8 trials today:
Pentium 4 2.4Ghz, 1GigRam, XPHome
Poser5 Firefly renders, production, frame size 800x550
Minimum Shading Rate .2000
Cast Shadows, yes
Smooth Polygons, yes
no raytrace, no displacement
three pure white lights in standard array
shadow map 256
models: naked Vickie3/Judy with no textures whatsoever,
Hair: Bliss hair default length with texture applied
Those were the only elements in play on each character. All time in seconds.
Medium-long shot, bucket set to 128
one in scene, Vickie 106 Judy 072 68%
two in scene, Vickie 236 Judy 206 87%
Close up, bucket reduced to 80
one in scene, Vickie 193 Judy 140 72%
two in scene, Vickie 425 Judy 279 65%
I suppose I should have done this test without
the hair, as well, to get a pure "Poly-Hit"
statistic. Oh well. The data is useful anyway.
Naturally, there is a lowered render time with
Judy because of the reduced poly count. It's
just good to have the facts of exactly what
the differential is.
