I am looking for a table or list of numerical values used to simulate different kinds of cloth (silk, leather, cotton etc) in the cloth room (fold resistance, shear resistance etc), and to set their textures in the shaders in the materials room (specular color, highlight size etc). Is there such a compilation? Does anyone have any individual settings that give particularly satisfying results? Thanks.

The only dial I mess with is fold resistance, a setting of 1 gives a nice silky feel, 50 or so stiff leather. John

In the tutorials section at Curious Labs you can find a short table for cloth settings. For cloth that should drape nicely, I often reduce fold resistance to 1 and shear resistance to 5, leaving stretch resistance at 50. For stiff materials like leather I increase fold resistance to 50 or more, shear resistance to 100 or more, and stretch resistance to 1000 (the maximum). I also increase the cloth density (standard value is about right for light cotton, decrease to .0020 for silk, increase for heavier materials) If you increase the cloth density, it's often a good idea to increase stretch resistance too. I don't know of a list of shader settings. Most real-life cloth has some subsurface scattering, and that's something the shader room does not do very well. You could try the Skin node.

Wow, I just posted the same question about cloth values. I like the addition of the shader info tho. Have you had any luck finding a listing? Thanks, Nebula

I got a hit on the post I made. Here is a link they sent me. It looks great for cloth settings! Attached Link: http://www.runtimedna.com/messages.ez?Form.ShowMessage=122961 And here is where the above settings came from... http://www.poserfashion.net/cloth_parameters.htm Now if we could find something on the shader settings...
