In order to post a thumbnail image in the gallery section the file size needs to be 15kb. I don't know how to do this thus I can't submit a thumbnail with my larger image. Could anyone help me out?

i use ImageReady (the "sister" app that comes bundled with Photoshop) to make my thumbnails. It handles "jpg" format much better. Just set your "crop" measurements to whatever size you want (within the gallery restrictions) and crop your larger image down. I choose to show only a portion of the image instead of the whole thing (but that's a personal choice...) Adjust the "quality" slider to change the compression as well to drop the file size even more... :) retrocity

I make a 200 x 200 new file at 200 dpi and then copy'n'paste the big master-file into this smaller frame. I then select and interesting part of the picture and go to 'save for web' in photoshop and muck around with the quality percentages until it's below 15kb... it usually comes in at 45 - 60% depending on the picture.

You can click on the Optimize Menu in the Save for Web window, select Optimize to File Size and enter the Desired File Size.
