This is my first image from trying UF3. I am not sure how I feel about this program yet. I would really like some feedback on what people think if you don't mind. I would like to know if it is really worth me buying eventually. Every image I have seen of others using UF is spectacular. I appreciate any help or comments you can provide.

The question is: how much of the dross have you seen. I could easily say "every painting in oil I've ever seen was great" but that wouldn't make me a great painter. Or that I should go and buy oil paint. UF is a tool. Like a lot of other tools. You like it or not. You learn how to use it or not. It helps you create great art. Or not. If it is useful or fun, I think it's well worth the money -- if it is neither, I see no reason to spend money on it. Then again, the same can be said for every product out there (even the ones that don't cost money still cost time and effort and energy). I tend to think of "evaluation versions" of programs like this: for six bucks I can go to the movies and be entertained for an hour and a half. Maybe two. If I get more than ten hours of entertainment out of something that costs $30 or $40 then it's worth it. If I spend more than three or four full days being entertained by something then it's certainly worth $50.

I have great fun with UF since 1999. I never regretted to have paid the fee...

UF worths the bucks you pay for it.

I wouldn't have regretted it if UF had cost 5 times that amount... I have spent thousands of hours with UF and I feel like I have only scratched the surface.

I am terribly sorry I guess I did not explain myself very well (at times I am unsure how to state things). I was not saying that UF is a bad progam or even that it was a bad buy. The images I have seen here on Renderosity prove it is a wonderful program for the money. I have a hard time understanding how some programs work. I guess what I was asking is if the image shows whether I am going in the right direction with this program. I appologize for the miss understanding. Thank you for your comments though. UF has alot of loyal users here.

hi newpy, like you i never heard or tried uf before october last year,i started with printing the tutoriol of uf, so i could have help at hand instead of switching every moment, because i did not know what to do.i found myself incapable to understand the complete tutorial in one go, so i did it in pieces. the very hard stuff i learned last christmas hollidays, the masking. important is that you like what you make , and the more you master it the more you see what others do and sometimes how. and you can always ask if they are willing to send there url. over so you can follow layer by layer what they did, not to copy, but the master the possibilities. good luck. monica.

by the way, it was not bad for a first. if you dont render, but export your image to photoshop and than make it ready for internet you dont get those words on your fractals. monica
