I was making a lamp and for the shade I need a material that is translucent but not transparent, like paper, that seems to glow when lit from the other side and shadows cast on it are visible from both sides but you can't see though it. I tried numerous things but none of them worked, Does anyone know how to do this with Vue (if it's possible)

You should be able to tweak that same effect in the Materials Editor...

I don't think I've ever seen that done with any program without faking it. For ex. make a simple material map that gets darker towards the edges.

How about this? It's my "shoji" material. The points are - 1. Global transparency -- about from 7 to 15% 2. Use "Blurred transparencies" 3. Check "Backlight" option at "Effect" tab 4. Add very low valued bump -- about 0.01 Hope this helps. Hatsumi

h-kana was quicker lol yes, the trick is 'backlight' wich is enabled when you choose 'one sided mat'. on the rough image , I just used the 'eggshell' mat from Vue..
