This time, I decided not to post until I had the project done (which reminds me, I'm almost done with the gears tutorial as well). For those who have watched the TV show, Cowboy Bebop, you should recognize this ship. For those of you who haven't seen it, I hope you like the model anyway. -Kix

Here's the first day of work. As you all know, I do a "sketch" of a model that requires realistic proportions by assembling primitives. To get references for this model, I sat down in front of my TV and took pictures with my digital camera of the show after I had paused the DVD. It actually worked out pretty danged great. I've never tried to model something that has always been drawn in an animated cartoon before. It introduced some really weird aspects. Specifically, the proportions of the model change for every scene that's drawn of it. Details change between shows. It was also interesting to see that animators don't go into great detail sometimes as well because I suspect they don't want to draw it all the time! -Kix

And here's day 6. This is where I'm going to stop for a while. Lots more work to do but not more work that I want to do. I need to stare at this thing anyway for a couple of weeks to think about it.

Your idea of making a "sketch" with primatives is very clever! Probably helps avoid lots of problems later. As to the model: nicely done! Enough geometry detail to be very convincing.

I like it! I always wanted to model it, but never had the time. I went as far as finding some reference pics on the web (of the plastic model). Looks good! Markd
