I was there for a bit. didn't leave a post, by I was there, wondering when Little Bo Peep had found her sheep. Really, though, it is a really good image. I guess sometimes it's the wave of what people are into.

If you have to worry about who looks and who doesn't..and what goes into the hot 20, and what doesn't.. not worth all that bother. You like what you created.. that's all that matters in the whole wide world... pretty selfish..but thats' the way the world works. (which is why I never vote..or get into discussions about the hot 20..) I like the image.. really Victorian.. I'd expect it to be printed on canvas, and then framed with an ancient gold frame and hung in some rich woman's hallway.

There's no naked girl posed with marketplace-bought poses and marketplace-bought face with a marketplace-bought texture and marketplace-bought props. (OK, I've done a lot of nudes, but at least my characters are original...) On a serious note, the more posts that go up, the less views each gets. You end up getting most of your views through people who have you in their favorites list, and unless you post one "naked girl posed with marketplace-bought poses and marketplace-bought face with a marketplace-bought texture and marketplace-bought props" per day, not too many people will add you to their favorites list...

i have to say that work is pretty damn good. very art-paintingish, and certainly worth an excellent. a lot of the things you upload have to be uploaded at the right time (like early morning or late evening EST). It's all luck, really. Depends as well on what posts are next to yours. If a guy like Rochr posts next to you, chances are yours is going to get ignored. It's really all just random :D drac

Have to admit I hadn't found this one, for some strange reason. Not until I got Runtime DNA newsletter, and there it is featured on the front. Note to self...must add Sambucus to fav artists list.

The Bryce gallery is quite large and a lot of peopel search by Genre. If you don't have a genre then your picture will not come up on a search. Just a bit of advice. I rarely ever get that many views and there is always the if it was made quickly it gets thehits if I toiled over it for weeks then it won't get a second glance.

I'm always surprised by the responses I get and the number of views. For instance my Escher Relativity pic got way more views than my Escher Waterfall, yet the Waterfall was much harder to do, took longer and is, I think, much more interesting......

au contraire...I love this image...you are on my fav artists list and I did get the notification that you had posted an image, but I have been busy and just hadn't got around to checking it out...yet...but I intended to...could be a lot of your usual viewers are caught up in RL after the holidays, or something along those lines...dont change the focus of your work because you think people might not be receiving it well...please...it's perfect the way it is!!! art that comes from one's heart and soul is far more amazing (imho) than that which is geared towards a "market" or created because it's what most people seem to like... gives you 98 cents change for your dollar :D

this is a great pic. I think what's happening is most of the above. I've paid a semi-indifferent amount of interest to hit counts, and I've noticed that bright, 'warm' colors get more hits than 'cool' colors (among other things..I think too much..;) while this is of superior quality, the eyes graze over the greens, etc., especially if your preference is set to 18 images a page (I look at everything..well, almost..;)
As a sort of experiment, I posted a nearly identical picture with the model facing left (about 30 hits in 4 days), and facing front (67 hits in 1 day). The fact that the characters are facing away from the viewer puts a slight emotional distance, which may not reach out and grab you. Something as simple as a shepherd boy looking back might have boosted things, if you're into that sort of thing.
I wouldn't worry about it. Not everyone has a good grasp of good art (in some of the galleries, names we won't mention, some of the fans more likely have a grasp on something else..'nuff said). You're doing good work, so don't stop. Remember, the only person you really have to please is yourself..take care.

I get few comments on my gallery, but I usually upload late in the evening. Maybe people are too tired to post comments that late in the day. ;) It is better than getting trolled to death. I deleted the images in my gallery that had gathered the hateful troll. I really wish the mods would do something about that instead of having to delete the entire image to get rid of it. sigh

Thanks for the comments. Some interesting points made there. I think its probably right that a figure facing the viewer would get more immediate interest but in this case I wanted the girl to draw the viewer into the picture, down the lane. I never use a genre in the gallery. Always thought that would restrict the audience. May be wrong. I
m on a few favourites lists I think, certainly enough to please me. Thats the real accolade, as far as I
m concerned. And of course, I should have left her dress off, LOL. In the end, of course, it`s a combination of many things but in this case I just wondered if, as Boomer says, it was a little too "Mary had a little lamb".
