Personally, I'd reduce the ambient lighting for the entire scene, and then place some spotlights in strategic positions around the campfire. Might produce moodier results. Nice texturing on the stones. Maps, or P5 procedurals?

If you turn up the Ambiance on the fire textures and/or suround it with about 4 spot lights it will make the flames brighter ;) If using P5 you can plug the flame texture right into the Ambainat node too..
