I have a digital photograph (i.e. a two dimensional image) which I'd like to use as the background for a Bryce scene. How do I do this? I would like to see the photograph in Bryce while working on the scene so I can match my Bryce objects' lighting with the lighting in the photograph. The only solution I can think of is to create a square primitive, then map the photograph onto the square as a texture. Are there any other ways? Thanks! P.S. - I'm using Bryce 5.

yes..I think you can use the 2d plane. I've done it with varying degrees of success..stay tuned for better and more coherent answers..;)

I've been using some of my pictures lately as backdrops in bryce, just have to be sure to have it set correctly. I used a 2D plane and made sure it was perpendicular. Pushed it way back and made it very large.Message edited on: 01/29/2005 22:20

Yeah, Ang's method seems to be the best and simplist one. I'm hoping for a better system in Bryce 6.

Part 5 of the tutorial section in the link above describes how I do this; hope this is of any help.CorwinRathe posted Sun, 30 January 2005 at 10:54 AM
You can set the 2d plane to track your perpendicular camera in the attriubes area. That'll make sure it's alwasys perpendicular to the camera.

Lordstormdragon posted a great tut on cool skies that included an excellent recipe for making 2d picture planes.lordstormdragon posted Sun, 30 January 2005 at 5:18 PM
GG beat me to it! Thanks for remembering my mini-tut. Sometimes when I post those things, and nobody replies, it makes me feel like I wasted my time. Glad somebody remembered it!
