I've noticed numerous reposts in the Poser freebie forum over the past several weeks. Most are merely updated site links or say "New Host". To me this seems more like a ploy to get users to download the objects more often. At worst, it clutters the freebie forum, makes things confusion for would be downloaders, and sucks up valuable bandwidth. Host information can be updated and reloaded in the original upload. I've done it myself numerous times. Regardless of the reason, I don't think it is appropriate to repost an item unless there has been a significant change to it - such as retexturing, etc. I may get reamed for posting this, but it has become more and more frustrating to sift through the forum looking for new items when there are so many reposts. As a side note, I want to express my appreciation to all the artists that take the time to provide us with new and refreshing freebies for Poser. They are always greatly appreciated!

I, however, welcome the 'reposts', especially when I wasn't able to download them when they first came out due to bandwidth limits or what ever reasons. I also like to thank all the freebies providers. JV :o)

Can you update the links without reposting the items? It sounds like a good idea though. I'll add my thanks too while I'm posting :D

Yes. As I mentioned above, you can update the host link. Just go to your own member page and edit that freebie in your freebie section.I did it when I changed hosts a while back so I wouldn't have to repost.

Sorry VelvetFoxx, but this is incorrect. Not sure if this has changed since you last updated, but any time you update the URL the item automatically goes back into pending, for reapproval - it then goes back into What's New. Cheers, Karen Poser Freestuff Mug Mod ;-)

lol. I like your sig Karen. For myself, I don't mind reposts at all when hunting for freestuff, cos sometimes you forget about an old prop and you suddenly see it again reposted. I don't mind clicking on a link to go to that person's site to download the freebie I'm looking for cos they sometimes have other free goodies that are also useful for Poser.

I agree with you zippy about going to someone's site via the poste link. That is usually the first thing I do. Ah...That explains it. Now that changes my whole perspective on this issue. Yes, that has changed since I last updated my URLs. I didn't realize that everything goes back into pending for approval all over again. Goodness! That makes perfect sense.I now understand why I keep seeing reposts! Thanks Karen for stepping in and clearing that up. I hope I didn't step on anyone's toes with this one.

And really now, we can never see too much of Nerd3D's stuff :-)

No problem VelvetFoxx :-) Most people try to put "new link" or "repost" or whatever (if they remember!) so at least you can skip over those posts. Also as a rule of thumb, if it's on the first page of "What's New" and has more than a few hundred downloads, then it's 99% sure to be a repost ;-)
