Do people really think I am going to allow such ridicules naming of files into my libraries? It totally destroys the already *logical* concept of Alphabetical and Numerical hierarchy. Sorry folks, you continue to name your files !!!This and !!!That or !!!The Other and I will continue to *rename* your files to what they should be (or what I *want*them to be) so your 'otherwise awesome creation' will rest NEATLY in my *neat and organized* files structure. To this day the ONLY files allow to use such ridicules naming is DAZ's generation three "folders" (NOT files names, ONLY the *folders*). So knock your selfs out *thinking* your getting your product to the top of my files *thinking* this will make them used more then others.....the **truth** of it is is that it has gotten out of hand and *if* I allowed you to pursue such a path then your files would be even harder to find, not easier because TOO MANY of you are now !!!!Doing !!!!IT!!!!! Make a good product and I will use it a lot, not simply because your put a lot of !!!!!!!!! in your file names..... Oh, and for any others out there that DEMAND organized libraries and *neat, easy to find* file structures there is a great little Freeware program for undoing the atrocity that others would wreck upon your Runtimes: [ The Rename](http://www.herve-thouzard.com/modules/wfsection/article.php?articleid=3)raz posted Wed, 02 February 2005 at 8:50 PM
actually, now that YOU'VE brought it up, I myself will add I spend a lot of time renaming things (mostly deleting the '!!!!!'s). It's a real pain, that's for sure. I've often wondered where the thought or notion came that forcing it to the top of the folder list is somehow "better"... generally, when I install something, I know where to go look for it. I rename all my directories as my own orefs, but I will say I never bothered to do that at all until the "!!!!!" pheonominon started. it's an annoyance for me too.

I agree....The first thing I do is delete all that crap & move/rename how I wish. For cripes sake...name the file what it should be intended for. If you you'd stop with the !!!! and name it appropiately I wouldn't have to go thru renaming etc..... Wasting time/time wasted

I find it a lot easier to just not buy from them any more. I've gotten tired of mentioning this. Instead of getting better, it is getting worse. It's as if, just the mere mention of a complaint about file naming, makes them add more !!!!! There is too much competition out there, and so many nice products to choose from. I will buy from others, and start requesting refunds. This is my rant for 2005...

Since I had to cut my Geometries folders down (over 700 was TOO many) and I can no longer allow ever Jane, Dick, and Marry to have their own folder in there I have had instances where a maker named the object file Dress01.obj and since I already had a Dress01.obj in my Runtime:Geometries:DAZPeople:Victoria folder I simply renamed the new one to {maker's name}Dress.obj, then open the CR2 and change the path call and obj name to {maker's name}Dress.obj -> done, works fine. Same with textures, someone gets lazy and names their texture Shoe.jpg then I just open the CR2 and complete the work they failed to do correctly buy renaming it 'this'Shoe.jpg and then, using the REPLACE command of my text editor I finish the maker's work within the CR2. The trouble is that Poser and it's community has gotten too large for this ego trip with everyone wanting to name everything after themself....textures OK, but the CR2, PP2, and OBJ should named for the character it is made for and use the standard existing library folders as much as possible....think of the user and not one's own ego kick when distributing files. Sure, some of my freebies have the object going into a 'sub' folder of Props or sometimes I just put it in Props but the PP2 or CR2 I always try to think "What folder do most people already have for this type of item" and put it there, for that is where the user is going to look 5 months from now when wondering "Where was that item...it was relating to 'fish' so I'll look there" and guess what? They FIND it! But then again there is no 'One way' that everyone names or stores their files, but this !!! garbage and lazy naming of files like Dress.jpg or Shoe.obj is just inexcusable.

One of the products I bought here put all the textures in my texture folder. Not a named folder in the textures, no, I had to make and name a folder then find all the textures, put them in that, then fix the paths in the mats. With my own stuff,I have been trying to keep the names to 13 chr. or less. Not sure but I thought some systems don't read them right if their higher.

An easy way to move all your geometry files where you want them without having to edit CR2's. Move all your geometry files (.obj) anywhere you want them in the geometries folder. Then run Correct Reference. Correct reference will re-assign all the geometries correctly in your CR2's. I moved over 3000 obj files around and renamed all the folders, ran Correct Reference once, and problem sorted. Same for textures. The only problem arises when there are two files with the same name, like black.jpg, then you have to manually choose which one in Correct Reference.

I don't bother with either geometry files or with texture files. I don't have any reason to.
However, I always relocate .cr2's and .pp2's into the folders that make sense to me.
So it doesn't matter what naming convention the merchant happens to use. 5000 !!!!!!!!'s don't bother me. I am going to change the folder's name from whatever they called it, anyway.
The only exception to this is for DAZ items. Most all character packages, etc. are built around the DAZ morphs residing in their default locations. I keep the DAZ folders in my base P5 runtime. I have separate runtimes for most of the rest.
I'd hate to have to hack .cr2 files every time that I loaded up a new character. That would get old quick.

Actually, what would really help me find people's stuff is if it all ended up in a character or prop folder named for the figure it's designed for. So all my Victoria 2 clothes end up in a folder called 'Victoria 2 Clothes', all my DAZ morphing fantasy dress texture MATs end up in a folder called 'Morphing Fantasy Dress', etc etc. After a year or more, I forget what character the clothing/texture is for, and in most cases there is nothing in the file to tell me. I do rename now, but it took me a long time to realise that I needed to and now I don't know what most of my older stuff is for. Okay, so my own freestuff ends up in a folder calle Horsefeathers, but it IS for the horse. ;)

I'm glad there's somebody else out there who is annoyed by Punctuation Prefixing. The time that is wasted (yes, that's right, wasted!) renaming files and folders because of this absurdity must add up to hundreds of hours every month across the Poser community! To all merchants I would just say: Please don't do it. It is incredibly annoying. In the end, though, this really comes down to setting proper standards and enforcing them, and that should be the responsibility of the marketplace administrators. Having seen how much irritation this issue causes, it might be nice if Renderosity made it a rule that no product will be accepted for sale if the file and folder names contain spurious punctuation symbols. It also might be nice if a similar rule required all texture filenames to be (a) in a folder below textures with the same name as the product or merchant, and (b) prefixed by the merchant name or ID number (I assume there is one) so FredBloggs_Shoe.jpg or 86201_Shoe.jpg instead of shoe.jpg

I always rename folders on download, then I organize the files upon installing. My Runtime is MINE, dammit! I finally downloaded the V3 and M3 files, but only for clothing conversion until I have a way to rename the innards. Nobody gets to have their own super-special multi-exclamatory file system imposed upon MY Runtime... especially not people who have never learned the basics of taxonomy! This thread might have some useful notes for others who wish to organize the Libraries. A couple other people added their systems and philosophies, too. Further to the renaming thing: some character packages call the DAZ INJ and REM poses, and expect to find them in their be-!'ed folders. That's taking !! too far. Having said that, after I've removed all the merchants' !s I often rename folders and library items within the folders with !s of my own. The stuff that I use often should be at the top. For instance, I have a folder called !Copy at the top of most libraries, for temporary holding of items I want to copy between scenes.

IMHO a lot of blame can be laid at the door of CL. It would have made sense from a file-mangement point of view to have all the files for a particular figure/prop etc inside of one folder not scattered around the directory structure.

I always unzip or install into a separate runtime, then I run P3do to change the rsr files to png and get rid of the rsr. From there, I move everything to separate runtimes. That's the 1 great thing about P5. I also wish the texture makers, when they do sets for character clothes would add the name of the set they are for to their files. Trying to find out what Mat Blue Set goes to, is sometimes a bit hard with all those new figures out there. Yes Yes joffry! I've found that too as well as some trying to use spaces in front of the name and - or _ to try and "separate their files from others".
While during creation that can make sense if a creator has a large runtime themselves but once it's offered to others it should all be redone with consideration to the Default Poser structure.
Yes the DAZ installers are a pain as the newer ones are harder to 'tell it where to install' but I still ALWAYS install new files to an EMPTY folder and then migrate into 'my' structure; like others here have said Vicky Characters with Vicky, Vicky Clothes with Vicky Clothes, Vicky fantasy clothes with Vicky Clothes Fantasy (notice how the last two stay alphabetical in the hierarchy structure??)

I hate that too and you know what it only happens with the stuff I do buy at DAZ. A lot of the folders they and their vendors create don't make sense at all. It cost's me so much time to rename all of the stuff, it's a waste of time. If only these vendors at DAZ and DAZ's itself would have some common sense. It's all of these little anoyances with DAZ and their vendors, that add up over time and drive me away from them. There's another thing which annoys me about DAZ and that's their installers. I've just spent lot's of $$$ on a product and during the installer I get tons and tons of advertisements. These people of DAZ are way to full of themselves and sometimes I think they think that they're the only poser contents suppliers in the world. When looking to my poser folders after installing a number of DAZ products, It's all DAZ stuff on top..... Well, it won't happen that much to me anymore, I've stopped buying at DAz as much as possible, there are enough alternatives for getting my Poser content, without all of these annoyances.

Good point about readmes too Carolly, why do people put those in root or other odd places? The ONLY place they are safe, findable, and logically placed is in the product's TEXTURE folder. The Texture folder is the only place that really separates and identifies a product plus it is easier to manage there. Putting the readme in Runtime or Libraries folder is as bad as not putting a readme in your product at all....when I want to know who made an item I'm using I look in the Texture folder for that product!
hauksdottir posted Thu, 03 February 2005 at 8:25 AM
I usually pull it out of Texture into the product folder. I read it, too. :) If something has P4, PP, and P5 Pose files (appreciated), I also pull out the ones I don't want to install, and label them with "-not" at the end. I do have a file for useless MAT poses which only affect color changes. It takes a bit of time to properly install items, but then they are less trouble later and my Runtime is lean for faster loading... AND I can find stuff. :determined grin: Carolly

When I need a readme I go to the zip file. I think it would be silly to put the readme in the textures folder because the texture folders are often named after the artist. The reason I go to look at a readme is to find out who the artist is to give credit in my gallery. If you have XP I dont understand why you would need to unzip into a temp directory. XP will handle the zip like a folder and you can just drag and drop what you want into your own directories. What I do is open two windows explorers side by side. Set the one on the left to my downloads directory where my zips are. Set the one on the right to my poser directory where my runtimes are. Ill double click on the zip in the downloads, that opens up in a new window. I click the folders button so that I can navigate in the zip.on the right I navigate to the appropriate runtime. Then I just drag and drop what I want from the zip to my runtimes. I delete the ! # etc from the files and folders in my library because I use those symbols for my own organization. I dont bother messing with the textures or geometries because I only have to look in those folders when something goes wrong. Which is rare for me.

joffry posted Thu, 03 February 2005 at 11:26 AM
the reason for unzipping into a temp runtime is so that I can first of all, see what files are included and what they are named. Get rid of the rsr files, yes Poser does convert them to png when you open them, but why do I need rsr and pngs in my folders and lastly so that I can sort them at one time to whatever runtime they belong. I use Poser 5 so have multiple runtimes and I want things where I want them. This is why I purchased the pro version of P3Do, you can just make it look at an entire runtime and convert the whole thing at one time. Although, for the first time, P3do crashed on me, it refused to look at a folder called !! Folder name, guess it didn't like the spaces inbetween the name. It all breaks down to, it's my money, my time, my programs. You have no right to want to be first in my program, you have no right to crash or force another program to give me an error because of your ego. And that's all I have to say on this subject. It is a waste of my time. They won't listen until you start hurting their earning capacity.

How do P4 and P5 differ in their handling of directory trees -- I vaguely recall something about some limits in P4 I don't like to mess with the Daz naming -- they do at least provide working uninstalls. A readme at the root of the zipfile isn't so bad. I use a Windows driver which makes zipfiles appear as a special type of folder, so a readme there is easy to access. Now, if they'd have some minimum useful info, like which character the clothing item is intended for... And, no, I don't claim to do a good job myself.

'You know... this might be the beginning of a revolution!' Carolly, Much as I respect you and your opinion, I doubt that very much. This topic comes up with monotonous regularity about once every couple of months and nothing ever changes. The only way this is ever going to change is if the stores INSIST on properly named folders. Full Stop! The merchants who do this aren't going to suddenly stop of their own volition. They need to be FORCED into it. And the best way to make that happen would be for everyone to e-mail the stores and complain about it. Mind you, IMO, any merchant who uses these symbols needs their f*&%ing head looked at. Why do you need to be at the top of everyone's list? So they'll use your product? BS! They'll use your product if it's good, not because it's the first folder that opens. Although I broker through DAZ, I'm the first to agree that they bear a heavy responsibility for the diffusion of this ghastly practice. The staffer at DAZ who thought it up ought to have his hands cut off. But there's no reason for any DAZ-brokered product to use this system. Mine certainly don't. My library folders are named by product and geometries go in a sub-folder of my name. I'm no sucker for fame. I just want customers to be happy (and spend again!). mac

Actually, Poser 4 starts in the first folder. So, if you have a pose folder called "!JH", it will appear before the folders that start with "A"... and when you open Poser and click on the Poses Library, the "!JH" folder will open. A pretty handy trick for getting customers to see your poses first. However, people figured out this trick a while ago. Then DAZ forced themselves to the top by naming their folders "!!V3 INJ". How is this any different from a folder just "V3 INJ" (without the !! marks)? So, now if someone wants their folder on the top, they have to use "!!!". Then the next person will use "!!!!", then "!!!!!", and so on. Eventually, we will get folders with names like "!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JH Poses". I don't think Poser will even display folder names with that many characters- the name will be chopped off and become "!!!!!!!!!!!!"! --John

I have started a thread in Product Showcase Forum. Maybe a few merchants will get the hint. John, You're right, after a certain number of characters the display will only yield nonsense, and then the merchants will have thrown themselves over the edge of legibility into the unknown. That might be part of the mental make-up, though. Any artistic trend is pushed to excess: Victorianism went to ruffles on feathers on froufra on shells glued to a painting and modernism went to totally featureless plain red fields. One little niggle leads to a landslide as everybody piles on. Maclean, You may be right. But if we don't keep speaking up, nothing will ever change. I have to say I hate these things too but I do them in most of my products Before you stone me I do them to put them in existing file structures instead of doing them in new folders. Instead of having new folders for each texture I do like some merchants I try and dump them into a common folder. So instead of adding another folder I put them into !MAT M3 if it is for M3. That is my sole reason for doing it. To cut down on folders by putting them into an existing structure. I think the first time I saw the files I go so annoyed and deleted it but I didn't feel like changing all of the MAT poses to reflect the new texture folder so that still is in place. I think it was someone who recently fell out of favor at another site.

What I think the big issue is is naming Each and Every file Within a folder !!This and !!That. Also a see a lot of 'Character Packages' for say Vicky with the name "SpiceV3" that will come with a complete clothing package as well but for some reason the Vicky character will be named "SpiceV3" but the outfit top will be named simpley "Top.Cr2" and the pants called "Pants.Cr2" and the shoes called "L-Shoe.Cr2" and the other shoe called "R-Shoe.r2"...... Comon people, lets all sing along here; "A, B, C, D, E, F, G.....Now we know our ABCs"!

igohigh .. I hate that too and don't do that at all .. I just get the files into the existing structures and then do things like "Universal Alien MAT PP" or whatever. Sometimes I might get a "Body 1.pz2" but I then try to name it "Universal Body 1.pz2" but soetiems there isn't a good description. I will try to make sure it isn't vague though when I do it since I hate that too.

The reason that I do it is in product development ONLY! It just makes it so that the current thing I am working on is at the top of the list. It just makes it easier while creating a product. BUT, I take the !!!! out BEFORE I upload it to Renderosity. (If I haven't, then I screwed up and forgot, but usually correct it before it gets released!) So, there is one reason to do it during development, but after its done, I remove the !!! even in my own folder. So the !!! is only used in my folders to put WIP at the top of my list. Once its finish, then they come off. I do agree with you, and its aggrivating when a product comes that way. And I will change it to suit my own usage. That is why I take the off, because I figure my customers have their own systems, and they are probably all different!

This document is not meant to be the word in how to package your Poser products, but more to give newer merchants and prospective merchants a set of guidelines for things that customers desire in all Poser products. As suggested by the title, these guidelines came from customers (and merchants as customers) and their issues with purchased products. The objective is to help you prepare your products to be compatible with Poser 4 standard (P4), Poser Pro-Pack (PP) and Poser 5 (P5), and both PC and Mac systems. If your product requires the use of another product, state this at the beginning of your promotional text and provide a link to that product. This information is to be included in your readme file as well. While clickable links are encouraged, they are not required. Example: You are making textures for another product or your product requires Morph Manager or Objacation Mover, etc. State this and provide a link to the required product. Marketing tip: A good marketing technique is to show enhancements for your product. The reasoning behind this is that some customers may wait to see what add-ons are available for your product before they purchase it. Links to supporting products should be near the bottom of the promotional text. (This helps differentiate them from required products.) While clickable links are encouraged, they are not required. Example: You are selling a pair of pants and someone has made a texture set for the pants. Include a link to that product in your promotional text. State clearly what items your product can be used with and what versions of Poser your product has been tested with. Example: If your product can be used with V1/2 or V3, state this in your promotional text. State what versions (P4, PP, P5) of Poser your product has been tested with. List Morphs that are included in the product. No postwork is to be used in promotional images (other than composition), EXCEPT when a postwork tool is being sold OR when the postwork has nothing to do with the product being sold. It is best to keep postwork to a minimum. Resources: Merchant's Forum - Forum for merchants only; keep updated about Marketplace changes, ask questions, etc. Product Showcase Forum - Post images and information about upcoming products or new releases as well as sales, etc. Product Showcase Gallery - Post images for upcoming products or new releases. All packages are to include RSRs or PNGs for all Poser thumbnails. All thumbnails for transparent items are to be rendered. The exception to this would be where it is not applicable such as "Trans on". Thumbnails for light settings are to be rendered. This lets the customer preview each light setting without having to render them all. Formats: P4 only: Use RSRs ONLY. P4/PP/P5: If your product is designated for all three versions, include RSRs ONLY. Reason: Poser 4 cannot read or use PNG thumbnails; PP & P5 uses PNGs and can automatically make them from RSRs. PP/P5 only: If the product is designated for PP and/or P5 ONLY, include PNGs ONLY. Sizes: P4: The thumbnails are to be 91 x 91 only. P5: The thumbnails can be taller, i.e., 91 x 180, but 91 x 91 is still preferred. Resources: Seno Software - P3dO Explorer or Poser Explorer - converts between RSR and PNG. All products are to include the Poser version number(s) that your product can be used with. P4: All version numbers for P4 are to be 4 or 4.01. Reason: Poser 4 users will get an error message every time they load your product. PP/P5: Version number for PP is to be 4.2. Version number for P5 is to be 5. Readme files are to be placed in runtime in a folder titled Readme, along with the license.txt file, and are to be named productname_readme.txt, NOT just readme.txt. This folder is NOT created by Poser. You will need to make it and name it exactly as shown: Readme. Reason: If everyone names their readme file, readme.txt, it will get overwritten. If you do not use the exact same name for the Readme folder, the customer will end up with additional readme folders. The readme file is to be in ASCII text, no logos, just text. Reason: Anyone on any system can read the file. Each Readme file will contain (in the following order): Product Name Product Creator Copyright Contact Information What the Product is What the Product requires (with links) Example: Lace for BlackBettys Stockings for V3 BlackBetty (merchants name) Copyright (C) 2003 BlackBetty@Renderosity.com This is lace transmaps for the V3 Stockings by BlackBetty Requires BlackBettys Stockings for V3 available at: http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=00000 It is important to list required items and to provide links. This includes such things as the base product if your product is an add-on, objacation mover, morph manager, etc., if your product requires these in order to work. If more instructions are needed (i.e., with graphics), they are to be in html or pdf format; do NOT use a doc file or any specific word processor file! Option: Save your word processor file in RTF, rich text format. Reason: The customer may not have the same word processor as you! Face folders that are expressions only, are to be identified by using EXP in the folder name. Example: EXP_ProductName. Non-Alpha characters are NOT to be used at the start of a folder name, such as ! + , or a space. Keep the number of folders to a minimum. Keep folder names and filenames short (the shorter the better). Do NOT exceed 30 characters (not exceeding 16 is better). OBJ files are to be placed in a subfolder and/or subfolders that you create within the :runtime:Geometries: folder. For example, if your merchant name is BlackBetty and your product is a Biker Jacket, one of these methods is acceptable: :runtime:Geometries:BB_Bikerjacket:BB_bikerjacket.obj :runtime:Geometries:BlackBetty:BB_bikerjack.obj :runtime:Geometries:BlackBetty:BB_bikerjack:BB_bikerjack.obj Texture files are to be placed in a subfolder and/or subfolders that you create within the :runtime:Textures: folder. Example: Your merchant name is BlackBetty and your texture is leather then: :runtime:Textures:BlackBetty:BB_leather.jpg Templates are to be placed in either the :runtime:Templates: folder or in the product textures folder. Note: You will have to create the template folder in your runtime folder since this is not a default Poser folder. You should type the name of the template folder exactly as shown here or it will create a new folder in addition to the one every merchant is asked to use: Templates. Note: Templates should be in jpeg format. This is common to the industry because Poser uses jpeg for textures. GIF is another option that provides lossless compression. PZ3 files are to be placed in the :runtime:PZ3: folder. Note: You will have to create the PZ3 folder in your runtime folder since this is not a default Poser folder. You should type the name of the PZ3 folder exactly as shown here or it will create a new folder in addition to the one every merchant is asked to use: PZ3. Python scripts for PP or P5 are to be placed in the :runtime:Python: folder. Reason: this folder is created by Poser PP & P5 to hold the python scripts The morph injection files for DAZ based products are to be placed in the !DAZ folder. The merchant can add his/her own folder inside this one. This folder is created by newer Daz products. MAT and/or MOR Pose files are to be placed in the :runtime:Libraries:Pose folder. Hardcoded source files should be avoided. In other words, the path will begin with runtime, NOT with C:Program Filescurious labsPoser4 Example texture map: :runtime:Textures:BB:BB_oak.jpg The delimiter : is preferred over /. For example, use :runtime:Textures:MyFolder:myfile.jpg instead of runtime/Textures/MyFolder/myfile.jpg. This will make the files compatible with Mac as well as PC. Example texture map: :runtime:Textures:BB:BB_oak.jpg Be descriptive with any file names including texture names. Do NOT use generic names like leather.jpg or wood.jpg. You need to have a more descriptive name. You can use your name/initials with the texture. Example: BB_Leather.jpg BB_Oak.jpg Reason: If the textures are not in their own folder, Poser may apply someone elses texture to your prop, figure, etc., or it may get overwritten when another product is loaded! All zips need to have this file structure so everything lands in the right place when the customer unzips it to his/her Poser folder. Example: Runtime Libraries Pose MyProductMAT face MyProduct Textures MyTextures ReadMe MyProductReadme.txt Resource: Poser File Path Tutorial - How to zip your files using the correct path for Marketplace products. Mat Pose files are to be included for applying texture sets. (If for some reason they cant, such as a prop or background, this needs to be stated clearly!) Mat Pose folders are to have descriptive names and include MAT in the name, such as ProductNameMAT. The same applies for MOR Pose folders such as ProductNameMOR. The pose file will only pose the figure. If it does anything else, it should be identified as such! Pose files will place the figure on the ground. This means that the Y position of the hip will place the figure standing or laying on the ground UNLESS the figure is to be posed on a prop, then the Y position will place the figure on the prop. Examples: If the figure is walking, the feet will be on the ground. If the figure is laying, then the pose will have the figure laying on the ground or on a couch, for example. Pose files will have the hip X and Z position equal to 0 UNLESS the pose is part of a "Couple Pose" or combined with another prop, e.g., a couch, pedestal, etc. Pose files will NOT include props, hair or light. When you are setting up your pose, do NOT use smart props, hair, or have a light parented to the figure UNLESS the pose is designed for the figure and prop. Example: If you have hair on a figure when you pose it and you save the pose, Poser will save the position of the hair. Then when someone else uses it and they have different hair, with a different offset, the hair will be offset to match the original hair. Pose files are NOT to include morphs unless expressly stated, such as using MOR in the title of the pose or the title of the folder. Example: MOR-Annette Move Pose files: If the merchant wants to move the figure somewhere (such as in a castle), then the pose file should be written to change the X, Y, Z position of the body, instead of changing the X, Y, Z position of the hip. Reason: if after the move file is used, another pose is applied, it could move the figure back to the starting position. By moving the body position of the figure, a different pose could be applied. Bump Maps, if used, will be named product_bum.jpg. with directions on how to convert them to bump maps for P4. The cr2 file will NOT reference them. Two sets of MAT files will be included, one to apply the bump maps for P4, and one to apply them for PP/P5. I love your guide BlueBeard! Especially about Not haveing the CR2 referencing the Bump!!! P5 isn't bad but I NEVER store CR2s in P4 that are calling for a MONSTER BUM file!! However I personally like to store readme files in the texture folder, for there it dosen't matter if they are all named "readme" and there none 'accidently' get over written, there also keeps my root list down and there is where I can always find the textures, instructions, and contact info for any product I use. Also I don't have to wade through 1,000's of files to find it...yup, my texture folders are now well over 1,000 (including sub-folders of course) but by keeping everything neet, organized, together by Character/theme/function I can always find them ;p

And being able to find what WE want is the key.

You can rename "anything"....even geometries, provided you change the geometry references in the corresponding.cr2 or prop file. They're generally only listed a couple of times anyway. I use CRPRO with good luck. I have to rename and "full path" everything because I have all but the geometries on a Maxtor external drive. It will even correct references for those 3rd gen morphs that add the extra folder to your libraries And I agree about the !!! thing. Annoying to be sure!
