Did you just dupe the tree? sometimes Bryce doesn't like duplicated trees, but it's alright if each tree is a new tree....and some images use a 2D plane with trees on them for the mid to background trees. The more trees you use the more you will run into this problem....=(

Select the problem tree, and click on the edit button to change the settings. I believe you can change any of the settings, and when you come back to the scene all should render fine. I usually just bump the "randomness" setting a notch in the tree lab. Works for me.

Zhann that was a new model. I had the same problem when i duped a tree so i removed it then used another model. I was hoping to use tree models close to the camera because all up if i did things correct i wouldn't have more than 10-15 trees in the image. Fuzzy i did like you suggested and i still had the bottom part of the tree missing :( Looks like trees don't like me so i'll try working on a boring barren land scene.

Can you do a screengrab of the tree trunk texture for us? edit - Oh wait up, don't worry, looked more closely at the foreground tree, and it isn't just a cut off trunk - looks like a bit has been cut out (there's a bit of the side trunk going below the cutoff) so its not a texture thing.

CD- I did a research thread on this a while back. When identical (i.e. duplicate) trees overlap or are too close visually (at any depth into the scene) this will occur. Select the conflicting trees one at a time and alter a setting slightly (I usually use the random by one or two points) and it should work. If you still have problems, send me a copy of your file so I can see better what is happening. Richard

Thanks all. I didn't give up on it. took some doing but after ajusting the radom setting in the tree lab up and down i finally found the setting it needed. Now my tree looks whole again :)

I usually can get them to fix by just moving them further away from their nearest neighbor. I never get the problem with a single tree

It is related to the visual overlap of the metaball structure of two trees. The trees don't have to actually physically overlap just be close visually. If the trees are identical the renderer get confused and this happens.
